running head: JOB INTERVIEW Interview What are three rewards and three challenges that you will face as a teacher? As a teacher there are many different things that I know I would experience day to day. Rewards, and challenges included. Both are very common when it comes to teaching. As a teacher I hope to experience both every day. Rewards come naturally, just seeing the kids learn something new and grow in knowledge would be the greatest reward of all. Challenges come in ever shape and size. From the troubled kid, to the frustrated ones. But where there is a challenge, comes a greater reward in the long run. As the book says there can either be intrinsic or extrinsic rewards in teaching (Kauchak 5). Intrinsic rewards are rewards existing within oneself and are personally satisfying for emotional or intellectual reasons (Kauchak 5). The most rewarding intrinsic reward would be the emotional attachment to the children. Students that tell you, you have taught them something and are very grateful. This alone is heartwarming and fulfilling all around. Another great reward in teaching is be able to teach something that I love every day and share that knowledge with others. I have a true love for biology and if I could share that with others that would make teaching more than just a job. Extrinsic rewards are defined as a reward that come from the outside, such as job security and vacation (Kauchak 5). Teachers have great vacation benefits. June, July and August teachers do not have class everyday along with vacation during the year for holidays. Along with the fact that you would work the same time your own children are in school so it is one of the best jobs for the family at home (Kauchak 8). These are only a few amazing rewards teaching brings to the table every day. Challenges in teaching occur just as much as the rewards do. Teaching as the textbook
