Searching in different schools, I found that this program has a bunch of resources not only solid basics of nursing theory , but also nursing practice as well as clinical experience that will give me the opportunity of been successful in different practice situations. The fact of been able to have an integral education, joining theory and practice in the first year of study is one of the reasons I choose this program at Ryerson University. Furthermore, I think Nursing at Ryerson would make me not only a student with excellent communication skills, but also more compassionate, knowledgeable and a health care professional capable to lead and influence the health care field. I am very impressed with all the tools and resource the university has to offer the students experience clinical scenarios and situations as well as the facility of learn and practice nursing skills in an environment almost the same as the real hospital life. Study in one of the leaders in nursing education as is Ryerson University would give me the best education and formation to be a successful professional.
Personal statement I have always been greatly fascinated by cardiology since my first exposure to an ECG as a first year nursing student. Since I graduated as a registered nurse, I have worked in acute general medicine, a nursing home and cardiac care settings. Comparing my experience in different work speciality, I learned that I enjoy most working in cardiology and CCU. My interest in cardiac nursing has been further stimulated as I have continued to learn more in this subject area through trainings, courses related to cardiac care and my day to day work experience in clinical setting. Since I became a registered nurse in UK, it was always in my agenda to continue further studies and gain higher qualifications.
I researched nursing school programs and selected one with a night/weekend program that would allow me to continue working full-time during my studies. I have a family that I needed to continue to provide for and this seemed to be the best fit. My nursing school decision was fortified when I was selected for an award by the nursing faculty from all four semesters for excellence in the clinical setting. After graduation, I began my nursing career working as a case manager for orthopedic worker’s compensation patients. During this time I gained critical knowledge of the importance of
My passion grew towards nursing as I started taking more and more classes. After graduating with nursing degree, I accepted a nursing position in a medical-telemetry unit of a mid-size hospital. Then I have decided to do travel nursing job. With my travel nursing assignments, I had the opportunities to work in different areas like medical surgical, intensive care unit, telemetry, orthopedics, rehabilitation and oncology. Also I had the opportunities to work in a hospice and research clinic through my agency.
[i] I will be working in the First Obstetrical Clinic, where I will be supervising difficult births, teaching students obstetrics and trying to record my findings for future use by other doctors. That is probably why I am writing in this journal. I am not sure what will come out of me writing this. I hope to gain some retrospective, I believe I will get this by putting my thoughts to pen and pad. I have been trained at the finest of schools which leads me to believe I will do fine at my new job.
new ways of working and practices that health visiting would offer. During this week I felt I had stepped out of a job that I was competent, comfortable and qualified for and reverted back to being a student again. My mentor did keep introducing me as a qualified nurse who is currently training to be a health visitor which made me feel less of a novice but in this first week it did almost feel like starting from very beginning. I was welcomed by the team and the other staff in the health centre which gave me a sense of belonging from the first day. The week was very interesting and I learnt a lot about the role of the health visitor and where they fit into the wider healthcare team.
Becoming a nurse will make each day a great difference, not only for me, but for the patients I will be taking care of. I know I can help others by providing them with love, care, and ensuring them I will never give up on them. Once I am able to progress in my major and earn my college degree in nursing, it will not only make me a better person, but enable me to reach out to others that are in great need of
Being there made me scared but encountering the nice nursing staff and doctors made me feel more secure. I would always ask questions like do you love you job and what made you become a nurse. Getting those answers and having those experiences made me feel more competent about the career choice that I was playing on pursuing. As I got older I began to do research on the field and I learn that it was not only a rewarding career but it was an auspicious one also. Nursing is one of the few careers
Reflective Account of supervised management placement. Introduction. The student nurse hopes with this assignment to allow the reader an insight into my experience during my management placement within a busy rehabilitation ward in Wishaw General. With the guidance and supervision of my mentor I participated in all areas of running a busy rehab ward. The student nurse will reflect on health promotion issues as this stood out to me in several areas, The student nurse discovered that although we can nurse a patient back to health it is so important to make the patient aware of how necessary it is for them to participate in their care by adhering to what is recommended to them by various members of the Multidisciplinary Team and the devastating consequences that the patient can encounter if advice is ignored.
In addition, I will learn how to work as a critical care registered nurse. Prior to this clinical week, I was afraid of having a patient assigned to me, but I have overcome this fear. I want to learn and be able to provide patient care and distinguish any potential problems my patient may be having. Furthermore, I want to be able to communicate with the doctors, family, and other members of the healthcare team about my patient. This will enable me to become a well- rounded nurse.
