Bella Parnell ENG 111 Essay #3 November 7, 2012 Adventures of a Beauty Queen “Are you a real princess?” This is something Queens get asked every time they put on that dazzling crown and long white satin sash. To a queen, attire is important because they must dress according to the day’s event. Hair must be well kept, nails must be clean, and shoes must be elegant. Usually depending on the event of the day, many Queens’ attires change. For example, while visiting other pageants, a Queen would usually wear a more elegant formal sundress. Whereas, if a Queen is in a parade during Christmas for instance, they would probably not wear a dress, but a nice pair of jeans with a cute pea coat and accessories. Accessories are a Queens’s best friend. If someone were to ask a Queen to describe their attire, they would probably say something simple, elegant, and classy. Many Queens like to feel confident and poised, as well as well respected. The “meaning” of Queen attire is it reflects professionalism and self-respect. It is not all beauty, flashing earrings, and a big crown, underneath all that is what matters. Brittani Schisler of Lake County was crowned the 2012 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen, and she believes that you are the same person on the inside, no matter what you happen to be wearing. It is all about self-esteem and confidence. Personal style reflects these aspects too. Britani has been wearing such attire ever since she began her pageant endeavors. Her reactions to her attire have not changed and she feels as though her style has grown with her personality. Being a Queen changed people and with Brittani she would not change a thing. Responsibility is taking care of your duties, answering for your actions, your accountability, and your trustworthiness. Responsibility is huge in a Queens’ journey; it is a core value for living honorably, being accountable
