Beauty pageants – negatives I believe that beauty pageants and modelling involving children under the age of twelve should be banned. We define this topic as American beauty pageants such as toddlers and tiaras, and clothing modelling among children under the age of twelve, who still have to have a parent’s consent or influence in order to do these events. Beauty pageants. Are they a friend, boosting your precious little girls esteem, or a foe, turning her into a self conceited little brat? The true question is should these pageants be banned. My name is Taryn Rodgers and I will be covering the mother daughter relationship regarding beauty pageants. Aimee McShane will be the second speaker, and he is speaking on the affect of these pageants in the children’s future lives. Our third speaker will be Kevin Fouri Usually little girls and their mothers have an amazing relationship when they are younger. I have heard people talking about pageanting programs, and to me, mothers forcing their children to do pageanting seemed a little extreme. I decided to see for myself and so I watched Season 4: Episode 6 of the extremely popular television show Toddlers and Tiaras on South African DSTV channels. After this I decided that yes, mothers do force their children to do pageanting, and yes One of the observations I made while watching this, is that many of the mothers had done pageanting in their childhood and wanted to see their little girl be just like them. Most of the young girls are tomboys and actually don’t like to do pageanting. A mom asked her little girl if she actually liked pageants. The child’s answer was a definite NO!!! Everyone that has watched the well known pageantry program toddlers and tiaras knows that every single time a parent asks their child to practice their routines, they refuse. One child said that practicing was really boring and she hated
