This is the most important ceremony in a girl’s life next to her wedding. To celebrate this coming of age, there is a Thanksgiving Mass (Misa de Acción de Grácias) at the family’s church. The Quinceañera is escorted by a head chamberlain (chambelan), other chamberlains, maids of honor (damas), her godparents (padrinos) and her parents. This is a formal occasion & deeply resembles a wedding. The Quinceañera has bridesmaids & wears a glamorous dress with gorgeous jewelry to make herself stand out.
“The dress of the Quinceanera makes her appear to float as if an angel upon a cloud.” (bellaonline) The actual ceremony of a Quinceanera consists of the giving of gifts bought by her family, such as a tiara, a ring, a bracelet, earrings, a bible, and a rosary. “They show your acceptance by God, the church, and those in the church as being a woman.” (quinceanerainfo) Each present symbolizes a meaning. The tiara represents the becoming of a woman. The bracelet represents the never-ending circle of life. Having the main ceremony normally in a church, the reception is where the fun begins.
When the females take their pledge, the deacon’s wife assists them in taking their caps off. When the ceremony is over, each member is welcomed with a holy kiss on the hand from either the bishop of the bishop’s wife. After the ceremony, everyone enjoys a feast and celebrates entering adulthood. Another ritual that is important to the Amish community is marriage. An Amish wedding ceremony is very similar to other wedding ceremonies.
The similarities of both works is the theme of Marriage, and true love. In the song "Still", Tamia is clearly singing about her marriage between she, her husband, and the true love that they share for one another. In William Shakespeare's " sonnet 116" Shakespeare is speaking his opinion about traditional marriage, and love which is very similar to Tamia's view on her marriage. Both works also describe unconditional love in very different, but similar ways. Tamia sings of how she, and her husband still love each other like the first day they met even though they both have aged, and have kids.
Bob got sad and then she came out of the corner and surprised him and Bob was then filled with joy. Tiny Tim who is also apart of the Cratchit family finds happiness by reminding people of the miracles of Christmas. I’m still here, caring and looking after her every step of the way. I know this is one of the biggest days of her life, one she has been looking forward to ever since she was young, and one that she will remember for the rest of her life. I can still remember one of our conversations like it was just yesterday, one about her dream wedding. It would be sweet and quiet, nothing too fancy, with white roses and lilies everywhere. She always talked endlessly about what her dress would be like and how she wanted a veil that floated freely down her face that could be pushed back over her head like in the movies.
After dressing up in my long, baby blue confirmation dress, myself, Meris, and my family went to Saint Louis Catholic Church early in order to hang up the Joan of Arc banner I had made and to find good seats. I was seated next to my friends in rows near the front of the church that were specially reserved for all of the Confirmation candidates. Once mass began, all of us waited anxiously until then end when we knew we would take Communion and then receive the sacrament of Confirmation from the Bishop. Just in the way that we always took Communion, we all filed out of our pew and slowly and respectfully walked to the front of the church. When it was my turn, I received the Bishop’s blessing and the Holy Spirit, but I was still so nervous that I messed up my prayer-response.
The reader can conclude that Gates really loved his mother and admired her. His mother was very smart and he admired her for that. The “ biggest reason” that he joined the church was because of his mother, and he was glad he did. Strengths to their relationship was their closeness and the love they shared. A weakness to their relationship would be when his mother told him all the time that she was going to die.
