William Marshall Greatest Achievement In 1216 Prince Louis of France entered London and was proclaimed King of England, many English barons who were against the ruling of King John sided with prince Louis of France. But when John died in October 1216, his nine year-old son, Henry III was ruled king. Due to King John’s death many barons were willing to change sides and fight for young Henry III against Prince Louis of France. Because of this the barons selected William Marshall to be the regent for the nine year-old Henry III; this gave William Marshall power over the king’s command. Marshal then call for all nobles with a Castle in England to a gathering in Newark.
However it was the first time settlers of a colony had challenged their parent country and fought hard to win their independence, and by doing so set up a government with its own laws and constitutions- which is the perfect example of a revolution. A revolution usually involves a relatively swift change of government with a change of governing philosophy e.g. monarchy to republic. In this essay I am going to explore the events leading up to the war and the war itself to show that the American War of independence was in fact a revolution. It all started one bright sunny day in 1602 when three large ships arrived at new land… These settlers landed at Jamestown, Virginia, and the first English colony in America was founded.
Branches of Government HIS/301 August 14th, 2012 Branches of Government After reflecting on our class discussion from Tuesday night, it became clear to us why our Founding Fathers created three different branches of government. We think the most important reason the framers of the Constitution decided to form three branches of government, was to make sure the totalitarian system, which was imposed on colonial America by the English King George III, did not occur again. We believe they also wanted a clear system of checks and balances, which would ensure there was no one person or entity, which held absolute power over the people. After two hundred twenty five years, the system our Founding Fathers developed continues to work today.

[pic] The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, is celebrated on the 5th of May, which commemorates the victory of the Mexican military over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in United States cities with a significant Mexican population. The battle at Puebla in 1862 had happened at a very violent and chaotic time in Mexico's history. Mexico had finally gained independence from Spain in 1821 after a difficult and bloody struggle, and a number of internal political takeovers and wars, including the Mexican-American War (1846-1848) and the Mexican Civil War of 1858, which had ruined the national economy.During this period of struggle, Mexico had accumulated heavy debts to several nations, including Spain, England and France, who were demanding repayment. When Mexico had finally stopped making any loan payments, France had took action on its own to install Napoleon III's relative, Archduke Maximilian of Austria, as ruler of Mexico. The french army were marching on toward Mexico City, when they had encountered a strong resistance near Puebla at the Mexican forts of Loreto and Guadalupe.
