Baseline assessment for 4.48 Psychosis In lesson 1 we followed a script which was called 4.48 Psychosis, this play is about a woman who is depressed and condition is taking over her every night, she spoke a range of over whelming speeches in her dreams. This play is called 4.48 Psychosis because the woman used to wake up all of a sudden at 4:48am because she had nightmares, linking this to her depression as it was already controlling her. I played the Sarah Kane (the psycho) a lot of help because every time she went to bed she has nightmares about herself in the future and it doesn’t look healthy and bright, from the stiff and sharp movements you can tell that there was something going on that is bothering her, so she wakes up at the exact time she normally does and then she thinks about the nightmare and changes it in to not reality, and the spirits in her nightmares are encouraging her to end her life as they are telling her that she’s a no body and she shouldn’t be living a peaceful life on the earth, so when she thinks about the nightmare she realizes that there’s no point of living if she is going to live a painful life therefore she decides to end her life by hanging herself. When I was playing the role I have to change a lot of my movement into quick and sharp movements to show that I’m not normal I have a fear of life, I also had to use different facial expressions to communicate a better understating of what I am feeling, I had to make sure my one of voice was low and sounded like I have been crying non-stop for days to get the extra expression on the fear inside me, by doing this I knew I was getting across my feelings to the audience and if I asked the audience if they understood what was happening they would say yes because I was portraying my character well.
