This shows a concern for the people, giving the impression that technology is there to help them. This attitude is reinforced by Huan Guan in Document 2, where he writes about the impact that a lack of technology has on people. One of his main points is that innovation should occur when current technology proves to be poor in quality and ineffective, which indicates his largest concern in the usefulness of technology. Huan Tan begins Doc. 3 with self praise for the Han invention of the mortar and pestle, and then goes on to exaggerate about its effectiveness being increased a hundredfold.
When the interviewer says that the word is hurtful Bradley replies by saying, “the word is not hurtful but how it is used and the person who is saying it is hurtful”. I agree with Bradley, I feel that although the word is used too often now a days, the word itself is not hurtful, but how the word is used is what really makes other people feel hurt and uncomfortable. Overall I think that we all agreed that the word nigger has become a word that is too commonly used during present time. The word in my opinion is now used more
Jack Martin English 11—Period 1 7-29-14 Thomas Paine Thomas Paine once said “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph, what we obtain too cheap we esteem to lightly.” I couldn’t agree more. Not only is this is a motivational piece, but it’s also telling the truth, it also lets people know that hard work pays off. Thomas pains quote is a motivational piece because it’s telling people that in order to get something you will value, you will have to work hard to get it. That is a life lesson some people miss. Hard work pays off in the long run.
This critique will explore the weakness of subjective evidence, logical fallacy and confusing structure. Fromm suggests humans intrinsically lean towards being “obedient” as it provides a feeling of comfort and power in being part of a group. He also states however that most major growth in humanity has come due to disobedience. Its only when humans question the norm. To support this using the elements on conscious and obedience there is authoritarian conscious and humanistic conscious.
It’s honestly like a domino effect. One says, and one repeats. Reading has decreased peoples way of thinking into this big bubble. He says in line 5-7, “Reading forces...imprint.” I couldn’t agree more with that statement. Being able to think using your own instinct leads to more success.
Assumptions should play no part in critical thinking but unfortunately they do, and often. I know as humans we all make snap judgments, but the idea is to push aside our assumptions and judgments when we think critically. Thinking critically is a skill that you either have or you don’t, the ones who have it will ultimately be the ones to thrive in their respective fields. Though it may be difficult to avoid making assumptions, as professionals we have no choice. We can keep our assumptions to ourselves but unless we consider all aspects of the situation we are not thinking critically.
Mr Shelton’s complaint can give to Presto Cleaner real benefits because he discovered most of its points of weakness. That firm found a very good idea to take advantage of its opportunity of providing a better service in order to gain more market shares. It made that possible developing its own service’s customization and automation: a computerized management of laundry orders. This point of strength supposed to exceed its competitors because would have allowed Presto Cleaner to offer a more practical service within a cut of costs. Unfortunately, something went wrong.
Quote: “Do not be afraid of my running into any excess, of my encroaching on your privilege of universal good will. You need not. There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of either merit or sense.” (Chapter 24) Analysis: This quote is in the view of Ms. Elizabeth Bennet, which explains that as life goes on there seems to be always something going wrong and someone being cruel. She expresses the universal theme that everyone in the world experiences.
Perception is reality. This quote, like so many others, seems to oversimplify life and how complicated it can be. When viewing it more closely, however, it is easy to see that although simple, it is also broad enough to be applicable to many situations. This is where we see Okonkwo from Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart struggle. Okonkwo’s perception of masculinity leads to him creating a rigid sense of right and wrong that honors those who agree with him, but shuns those who do not.
However, there are still opportunities to grow. According to Maslow, self- actualized people have motivators such as truth, justice, wisdom and meaning (Tucker, 2013) (Hoffman, 2006). Maslow’s theory did not come without it critics or criticism. His theory is believed to be over simplified and is purely based on human needs. Every person or employee is not the same;
