Because of the rural nature of this specific county, there are often many barriers for residents to seek the medical care that they need. In fact, many residents would rather travel to seek medical care at a larger institution than use the facilities that are available in Union City. Because of these problems and barriers, Group 5 Marketing has created a Strategic Blueprint to assist Baptist Memorial Hospital of Union City Tennessee in developing programs to assist the obese population of Obion County. This service was selected because of the high rates of success at the Cleveland Clinic, but also because this program can also be modeled after the Cleveland Clinic’s program to include counseling and nutrition education. Therefore, by implementing a bariatric surgery center at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Union City, we would be providing the community with numerous tools with which to address weight loss. The target market for this new service is obese adults. The adults interested in their program would have to go through a thorough pre-screening process to ensure they are a candidate for the service, and the adults selected for the program must have a body mass index in the obese
