It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the ACT’s again to get a higher score. My GPA and ACT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my civil engineering career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
Some like to study in the library, yet others like to study outdoors or with friends. Also, balancing work, school and a social life is a key to a successful college career. If these elements are not balanced, the result can be disastrous. Many students who perform poorly in college as a result of too much time spent with friends simply need to prioritize. There will always be time for friends and fun in college, but the main focus should always be on academics.
College 101 Why I chose to attend college: I chose to attend college because I have wanted to for many years now. I have always felt that going to college would help me to be able to fulfill my purpose in life. I have future plans to make a difference in the world, and for me personally I feel that college is a necessity to achieve this. I want to achieve my own personal goals of getting my Associates Degree from Lackawanna, then continuing on at another school to get my Bachelor’s Degree in social work. I have future plans of becoming a counselor or a life coach, I plan to make the final decision on which one when I have had a chance to practice as an intern; That is how I think I will learn better which one is more suitable for me personally.
The Hopes I Have for College For the past four years of my high school career my teachers and family have been preaching to me about me attending college. And how I need to do better in school so I could receive scholarships in this and participate in that once I got accepted into a college. For everyone in high school it seemed that the ultimate goal for students was to get the hell up out of there and live the college life. So, like everyone else I made it my goal, not having a real reason of my own besides “to learn”. So no, I don’t know why I’m in college.
My Decision to get a College Degree Getting a college degree is one of the smartest decisions I could have made. Going back to school for me means determination and stay focused so that I will be successful. There are things I have and will continue to change in my life, in order to continue and to do my best in my college courses. Everyone should go to college. Going to college will help you find a good career to make a better life for your family.
Academically, I have went from learning set in stone facts and events, to a more critical thinking type of learning; how and why things happen the way they do. In high school, good grades came naturally. Here, I have learned that hard work is not good enough. Simply skimming your notes is a near death sentence. I have learned to graciously take advantage of the academic assistance Auburn University offers.
So there are so many benefits to putting in the extra mile and achieving the goal of a college degree and in return, living the American dream. When you have a Master’s, Bachelor’s, or even an Associate’s degree, you are opening the playing field up to achieving success in a field of work that you will be happy to wake up to on a daily basis. The blood, sweat and tears that goes into your college degree is well worth what you put into it. The material you learn sets you up for a path to success. It’s so important to try your hardest in college because it says a lot about you, your future and the goals you are trying to proclaim.
A college education will greatly improve my career options and financial wellbeing. It will give me the knowledge and skills to be successful in my chosen career field. Even though I have continued to learn throughout my life experiences, a formal education will equip me with the ability to form better opinions and expand points of view in everyday life. Furthermore, education will help me to build on my work ethic and values to develop a more mature stable future. College education will provide a clear direction that will help motivate me to make better decisions in all aspects of my life.
The reason why I am attending college In today’s hard economy it is not easy to find a good job without a college degree. A high school diploma does not meet the standards of what most jobs require to find a decent job with a decent pay in order to survive in this rough economy. When I was in high school I struggled a lot while deciding whether I want to go to a cosmetology school, a university, or a community college. I was able to make the right choice for me at the end. When I was in middle school, I decided that I was going to cosmetology school to become a hair stylist and nail professional.
I agree with his idea that college degrees are important because going to college gives many advantages to students. Acquiring knowledge, making connections with people and having enough time to try something new are primary benefits that students can get at college. First of all, knowledge is an essential part to spend a valuable life. Rustigan says “there are plenty of high school kids who find college-prep classes boring and irrelevant” (A23). It might be true, but the students just do not realize what they can acquire after they finish the classes.
