Employee Motivation Theory Often times companies that struggle with the relationship between the employees and the goals of the organization; sometimes the moral of its employee is thread that sets the relationship apart. Managers have made several failed attempts to establish that relationship with the employee to knit them together with the goals of the organization. Therefore, the company level of accomplishments is diminished. A good manager has learned good people skills, and often times he/she is able to motivate their employees to increase their output. It is important to be able to penetrate any barriers that the employee may have as a defense mechanism.
What the employees like best about the company are the flexible work hours and the opportunity to work with knowledgeable, team-oriented colleagues. One of the principals' main goal is to retain good staff. When the company was brought up, the principals wanted to have a firm that provided a fun and participative workplace. The work force consisted of well educated professionals and they wanted them to feel empowered. Although the company has grown rapidly, the employees are starting to complain about certain situations.
This is a major issue because feedback is an essential part of motivating a person and making them feel valued in the company. Employees need to know that their ideas are being heard, and they must be presented with ways to improve themselves or the process as a result. The lay off process can affect a lot that has been established by the CQI. You need certain key members to have that teamwork in a company to ensure that everything is ran smoothly. You want to make sure you keep major department heads there to also make sure that you have someone with the knowledge to keep everything together. Also downsizing will affect the message the CQI is trying to set which is identifying the resources needed to begin an important and involved process of moving your workplace towards excellence. Happy and satisfied employees’ decreases the turnover rate within the office and also keeps the moral high. Continuing this shows the high level executives that the General Manager is doing well and optimizing his ability to lead. It is also important for an organization to work as a team. The general manager must know how to execute and communicate the same common goal to different groups. This is very difficult because in order for the team to feel as equally passionate about the common goal, the manager must communicate the goal in a way that makes each employee feel they are doing their part individually to achieve the common goal.
In closing it is recommended that BIMS begin to work to improve these various areas within the company. Training programs should be altered to increase employee competence and confidence. Furthermore, quarterly employee evaluations should also be conducted in order to maintain high performance and employee satisfaction. The characteristics of the employees make up the characteristic of the company, and both of these are a direct reflection of their leadership. Keeping employees happy is a key element to success, as noted in (Robbins & Judge, 2011), “Therefore, companies implement programs; such as piece-rate pay where workers are paid a fixed sum for each unit production completed”. It is imperative that a company can attract and retain a skilled workforce. Ensuring that their compensation is competitive with the market and valuing the employee’s opinions are just two ways to accomplish this.
Many employers now evaluate the applicant’s credit report, although it does the employer no good knowing what companies you have or have not paid it tells them a whole lot about how responsible the person is; which is one of the most essential skills needed to be successful in today’s workforce. In my opinion, the most ideal employee will have the skills of being punctual, honest, responsible, kind, being able to work well with others, and being willing to further their education. They will also have the knowledge of knowing when to use their resources and where to find the information needed, and to not be fearful of the consequences when they make a mistake and being honest enough to verbalize it. The skill of being punctual speaks for itself when working any job it is important that you are clocked in and ready to work when you shift starts. Not only because you have a job of which, is organized based on your scheduled hours, but also for the respect of your co- workers.
This means that I too provide the necessary tools for my employees to succeed, however, I do follow through to ensure that no employee is falling behind in any of their tasks and responsibilities. I choose to focus on the positives and strengths instead of the negatives and the weaknesses. Many managers in my current firm do not take the proper time to shape their employees to be successful. I believe that the extra time that is spent training each employee, will yield higher and more positive results in the long run. By spending extra time with each employee also shows care and respect for each person.
