Assignment 201 Principles of communication in adult social care settings Task A Ai a) Verbal communication – sounds, words, language and talking, paralanguage: intonation, pitch, tone and volume of voice, emotions style of speaking b) Non verbal - body language - gestures, facial expression, deaf sign language, Makaton, hand and arm signals, finger spelling, tic tac, c) Visual – signs, symbols, photos, picture cards, etc. d) Written – written communication - letters, documents, e-mails, text chats. Aii to express their feelings, wishes and needs, to share information and ideas, to give instructions, to express their perceptions. to socialize. Aiii a) To see whether they understand what has been said, by looking at someone who may have communication difficulties, we can learn their body language. By identifying the kind of their difficulties ( hearing impairment, speech problems) we maybe able to provide the aid they need. b) To see if there are any changes in their body language, facial expression or tone of voice we may find that they may be anxious, angry, frustrated etc. which could suggest safeguarding (abuse) issues. Aiv a) to avoid misunderstanding we need to know the best way of communication with our clients and if they need communication aids (hearing aid, glasses, sign book). By using proper methods and techniques, appropriate to the situation, we will create strong relationship between involved parties based on trust and respect. b)a carer who has more information about the service user and his/her wishes and needs, can deliver a better service based on person centre approach. Av a) colleagues; good communication improves teamwork and morale in group, we will be able to solve any issues in a professional and effective way, improve the service, we would have more information that may help us to make clients
