Quick and easy – it is very quick and easy to collect information from respondents from Surveys, though creating good surveys and analyzing can consume considerable time. 6. Objectivity and bias – surveys offer high objectivity, clarity and very low bias because responses options can be designed per requirements. 7. This technique can be used by project manager or other team members with limited effect on validity and reliability on the survey results Examples of Questionnaire and survey Here are some examples of survey questions during
A strength of questionnaires for studying parental attitudes is that they don’t have many ethical issues. This is because if the parent doesn’t want to fill out the questionnaire they don’t have to so informed consent would not be a problem. Also, even though the researcher could ask sensitive questions like the respondents own experiences of school, they do not have to answer. Yet, because questionnaires can be confidential and anonymous, parents may be more inclined to answer questions as it would not belittle them in any way or create judgement as the researcher is completely detached from the parent. However, the researcher would need to make it very clear to the parents that they do not have to answer questions and guarantee their anonymity.
For example, with postal questionnaires the researcher cannot be sure whether the respondent has actually received the questionnaire. In other words, it can be unsure whether a respondent or a family member or friend of the respondent has answered the questionnaire. This can affect the validity and reliability of the research as the views would have come from someone else who may not be part of the population that the researcher is studying. Sociologists may also choose not to use questionnaires when conducting research as they can be because the respondents may not always give full or truthful answers. The respondents could be embarrassed or shy and may provide socially desirable answers.
Some sociologists often use questionnaires to study issues such as; subject and university choice, bullying and the experience of schooling, achievement and school factors and parental attitudes to education. There are many practical advantages of questionnaires that study parental attitudes of education. Questionnaires are quick to fill out for the participant and are quick and cheap for sociologists to produce. Therefore if there are a large number of respondents that live far apart, then it’s easier to get questionnaires to them and they can be mass produced. It would be cheap to do this because the cost would only stretch to the use of ink, paper and posting charges, unless they were given out within school to take home which would be even cheaper.
A key advantage of a multiple regression, different from a simple regression, is the ability to use multiple types of variables which are both quantitative and qualitative variables. Another advantage of a multiple regression equation is that it uses data very efficiently and good results can be obtained with relatively small data sets. As the theory of linear regression is widely known and easy to understand, we can create deferent types of easy to interpret statistical intervals to forecast, for example,
The main difference is that in the interview, the questions are read out and the answers are filled in by a trained interviewer rather than by the interviewee. There are many practical advantages for the use of a structured interview for example training interviewers is relatively straightforward and inexpensive, since all they really required to do is follow a set of instructions. Moreover surveys that use structured interviews can cover quite large numbers of people with relatively limited resources because they are quick and fairly cheap to administer. Structured interviews are suitable for gathering straightforward factual information such as a person's job or age. Finally the results are easily quantified
This means that the research is more detailed and in depth, but is also more valid. Theoretical issues include reliability, meaning can the researcher trust the information that they have collected. The validity means that it is correct and has no mistakes therefore it can be trusted to use in secondary research. Research bias is when the researcher has their own views on the topic therefore they could incorporate their own thoughts into the research. This could all affect the research as it means that it could affect the final result.
• How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration? I think that diversity does not really affect collaboration unless people are just immature. Just because someone is different then you should not affect what work does and does not get done. On the other hand I do think that attitude, learning, and work styles could affect collaboration because if anyone has a bad attitude in the group they will most likely not listen to anyone’s ideas and be negative all day. I also think that a person learning ties into their work styles because someone can be taught a different way and that is the way that they work and one person might be upset about that.
Unstructured interviews give the parents more time and opportunities to develop their answer this can make the answers have more clarity and easier to summarise. With unstructured interviews it means that there is a higher chance of rapport building and thus creating a connection. Unstructured interviews are more in favour to interpretivists, as they prefer more open and detailed research, which can be elaborated. Despite this, there are weaknesses, because parents know the researcher is present their answers may not be valid as they will try and change their responses to more fitting response. Because there is no fixed schedule the interview could last for hours making it extremely difficult to summarise and shorten to make it fully comprehendible.
Grades do show the level of your understanding of a subject, but, they should not be everything. There is too much emphasis placed on grades! Just because one student is an A student does not mean that student is the only capable student. Depriving a child of an education is just plain terrible. Why should a willing child be
