Then again, I do not work as indicated by agendas and in order to start achieving my goals, I need to be highly motivated. After taking the survey, I learned that I need to manage my time accordingly. There should be time for fun and time for serious work. Individuals who have lower future orientation experience arousal procrastination, putting things off to get a last minute rush. I sometimes distance from or reject future goals so that I can reduce present tension and look for more immediate and pleasurable rewards than longer arranges or future objectives.
When working in a team setting I find myself wanting to start ahead of everyone else and leading the group to obtain the best results. The D style personality weaknesses can include when I over step authority due to control issues. My listening skills are often poor in certain situations, which results to overlooking the important issues. The dominance personality style person is motivated by new challenges and achieving goals. Dominance personality leaders are humble but enjoy verbal recognition as well as rewards.
No it is never easy but sometimes you can fake it till you make it. I try to look them in the eyes and speak clearly and not only show up my good qualities but let them know I am open to criticism and critiques and want to learn, that I am not all high and mighty type. I tend to be critical and doubt my-self efficiency. I need to become more confident and trust my decision making. 2. Dominance over conflict or employees is certainly something I need to work on. To be able to dominate and lead a team (for instance) I first and foremost need to work on my confidence.
I could find it hard to accept other staff members values and beliefs, and feel mine are the right ones. 2.1. Constructive feedback gives people the chance to develop within there role if its needed. If the feedback is good then the person will feel good and confident, but could take offence to constructive feedback. In my setting we have regular supervision with the team leader who will give constructive and good feedback.
I realize that these changes will not come easy but well worth it in the end. The first major change would be a paradigm shift in how I view communication in general and its connection to listening. I now know that listening is an action word and there are so many things I can do to help the listening process be more fruitful for each party involved. I have come to the realization that communicating is a give and take relationship and not something that is all about me. I will no longer tune people out if I disagree with them but I will truly listen and ask questions.
In the public services, these types of leaderships will be used within different circumstances, authoritarian is best in urgent situations but laissez-faire is better for those who are experts and know exactly what they are doing and don't depend on a leader, they are similar because they both focus on the task in hand but one is directed every step by a demanding leader, sometimes, authoritarian could be bad style to use as it could make the other team members feel under pressure and lack motivation but leading in a laissez-faire manner will make the members feel more important because they have freedom to work the way they feel best. If there was to be a car accident, authoritarian would be a better approach because whether it was ambulance, police or fire, they will need to get the victims to hospital and road cleared as quickly as possible but it'd take longer if the team didn't know what their roles were and what they were
We were all taught that if we strive for what we seek, we eventually will succeed. The JROTC program showed me leadership, better communication skills, and being loyal and patriotic. Though it was a scary experience in the beginning, I eventually met my expectations. It also showed me that we sometimes think negatively about some things because we may not know where it might lead us. The quote, “Don’t let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game,” is what spurred me to continue in this program without fearing anything, until I was able to achieve success.
In addition, in most cases they will serve what you like anyway because they are trying to win you over on their side anyway. What we must realize and understand is that not everybody likes the same things and the same people. However, we must not be so ethnocentric that we think we are the best and no one else matter. We must understand that the world is bigger than we are and that we can learn from other culture. We must see that culture relativism is a must and the best way to go if we want to grow together.
