Introduction Throughout time there has always been trends and styles that society to follow and never seem to fade. A lot of people like to be fashionable in many different ways. One style that is a main factor to society is to have a tan body. Tanning is not effective on all skin types, so people who cannot get tan look for other alternatives. These alternatives can be artificial tanning or overexposure to the natural tanning sources. Researchers have published the pros and cons that artificial tanning brings to society, but not many people know the facts. Regular tanners along with the general public want to be informed on these two dispositons: 1. What are artificial tans? And what are the positive side effects? 2. What are negative side-effects that fake tans bring to a service consumer? Position Even though artificial tanning is a never-ending trend there are many downfalls to it as well. There should be no need for a person to tan until their body is completely orange due to the fact that it inevitably damages your skin. - The sun provides people heat, light and between that, ultraviolet rays pass through and get to an individual. It is a fact that these radiations help vitamin D synthesis in the body. Body systems need a short period of sunlight to manufacture vitamin D, so excessive amounts are always dangerous. - The overexposure to ultraviolet radiation is “the primary environmental risk factor in the development of UV-related adverse health effects, which include diseases of the eye, immune suppression, and skin cancers” (Goddard News, n.d.). All of the effects have a high level of importance, because two of them can lead a person to death if they are not treated properly and detected soon.
