Article Review of: “The Origin of Old-Earth Geology and its Ramifications for Life in the 21st Century” By Melissa Logue PHSC 210 Sonia Cooper 2/16/2013 “The Origin of Old-Earth Geology and its Ramifications for Life in the 21st century” written by Dr. Terry Mortenson, is in my opinion a very well written and informative essay, regarding a very long standing debate. Dr. Mortenson is very thorough in his writing and gives us a great deal of information to consider. He is able to take a long standing and very controversial debate, that affects us all, whether we know it or not, and helps to give an understanding of how the debate came to be. He also gives brief but thorough biographies of the different “scientists” and their views. He writes of the three French scientists who believed that God had no involvement in the world’s creation. However he also gives us a thorough understanding of the important scriptural geologists. I found this article to have a few more weaknesses then strengths. One of the strengths I would like to mention is the biography that he gives on each of the scientists. I found that to be very helpful while reading the article, not only to know who said or felt a certain way but to know the background. I found the information to be well researched, and just brief enough to help to defend his debate. I thought the information he gave on the ramifications of the Old-Earth theory were very thorough examples, however I wish he would have been able to offer more definitive proof that these things were a direct result of believing in the Old-Earth theories. As far as weaknesses go, I wish Dr. Mortenson would have discussed
