More watchful parents and closely monitoring a child's friends will lessen or eliminate the ease of accessibility to not only marijuana, but other drugs as well. As a society, we have failed our youth in many areas of life. Youth need positive role models that are concerned about protecting them from harm and leading them in the right direction to go on a lead productive, drug-free lives despite any changes made to the laws. Being that age restrictions are put on everything else, there should be legal age restrictions for people who can legally purchase marijuana. People who can legally purchase marijuana should not be allowed to be around anyone under the age of 21 while the are under the influence or have marijuana in their possession.
While some do not believe the theory that drugs are used for the risk, it is an interesting way to look at the reason people do drugs. People who are pro drugs promote that drugs, such as marijuana, are used for medical use as well as recreational use, because they enjoy the effect drugs have on them. Prohibitionists state that if drugs were legalized they would be only consumed for recreational use or to escape from reality instead of dealing with issues (Marijuana Abuse, 2012). Some prohibitionists do not even believe that drugs help in medical ways. This controversial topic is one of the reasons the drug reform is such a debated movement of today.
Those are our unalienable rights as an American.” Enoch Easter’s opinion was, “Why not legalize marijuana period? If you use it then good for you; if you don’t then that’s your decision. Some people actually might need medical marijuana for medical conditions, but hypocrites say bad things about it and try to make it seem that it’s morally wrong if you use it. If using medical marijuana or recreational marijuana is ok by your moral beliefs, then I believe you should be able to use it. It’s not the
My answer is no I think it would just cause more problems than it would solve. I believe marijuana is a good use for medicinal purposes but if it was legalized very few people would be using it medicinally. I believe the majority of people that used marijuana would be using it to achieve a high and in the repeated process would become addicted. I also believe that if marijuana was legal it would become a lot easier for teenagers and young adults to get their hands on marijuana even if your suppose to be 18 to get it there will be the sellers that don’t care about the age group their selling to. There are some teens that will stop at nothing to get their hands on any drugs but if marijuana was legalized it would be just that much easier.
Crime declining would be one of the most infinite answer as to hat would happen if marijuana was legal. Drug cartels would not be able to operate because they couldn’t sell something that is already available in the market already. Its simple economics,in a free market state you create the supply and demand. With the demand of marijuana users being met there would be no point in the cartel even existing. Legalizing the drug would upset few but in particular drug cartels with a control in the market.
Many believe marijuana is a stress reliever and a way to forget all their problems, but if one would realize the actual effects and the difficulty to be able to “cut back” on smoking/eating it, the drug lobby would not be trying so hard to con voters into believing marijuana is completely safe. To face this problem the organized participation of society is required through actions that put the health of individuals and communities before other interests. Including being worried about the number of marijuana consumers among children and adolescents in the world, and particularly worried about the age decreasing for first timers. More importantly get closer to decision makers and ask them to develop well-balanced national policies for supply reduction and demand reduction by initiating prevention programs, and offering rehabilitation as means too face this social phenomenon society calls the drug
To further enforce this law would only be a waste of effort and “more dangerous” to those who are actually doing the enforcing. I think the second premiss is completely credible; “society” will not stop the use of marijuana if there are new laws passed stating the use of marijuana is prohibited. Therefore the conclusion that states “severe laws against marijuana are more dangerous to society than the activity which they are designed to prevent” is plausible due to the fact of reality that on a regular basis people don’t obey these laws. Getting in trouble with the law is more dangerous to society than just taking marijuana as an activity. For this particular argument it would have to be “Circular Reasoning”, it’s a fallacy that in which the premises include the claim that the conclusion is true or (directly or indirectly) assume that the conclusion is true.
For example, the Prohibition did not cause organized crime to decrease. Legalization would not put the cartels out of business, but simply make the cartels look to other illegal activities. The fault in the legalization theory does not end there. For example, if marijuana were legalized, drug cartels would continue to prosper with the use of heroin and cocaine. Whether or not legalization of marijuana ensues, there will be just about the same amount of drug trafficking.
The pro marijuana legalization is backed with many facts that make it the better option compared to the false assumption that marijuana is a terrible drug that only causes problems. Marijuana being legal would help the United States that is in dire need of help. Too many people still look down on the drug simply due to its false reputation. The states that have legalized marijuana have seen a change in how the drug is used. It is still in the top three drugs used around the world.
Many parents claim that the advertisements should only be shown in adult magazines, not for example in television papers, to which children also have access. Furthermore, they hope the tobacco companies will cease to promote the coolness of cigarettes and allow children to be aware of the dangers caused by smoking. Not only children are affected by the health risks due to smoking. Unfortunately, even adult smokers do not see the health problems such as lung cancer or heart attacks, which may result from years of smoking. Children start to be cool and soon become addicts.
