Dear Reader, When people talk about welfare one of the biggest topics or arguments that rises up is should welfare recipients take random drug tests screenings or not. Many people think this is a great new long overdue reform of the welfare program. Because it will encourage people to not use drugs and it’s not fair to ask taxpayers to pay for the drug addiction of those who are receiving welfare if they are, in fact, using those funds to buy heroin, cocaine, crystal meth. It will in fact “put an ease of mind” feeling to those taxpayers who think that welfare recipients just use these funds from their own pockets, which could be used to better public schools and transportation, than to buy more drugs. If I could even go as far as putting a time limit on how long an individual can be on welfare, I would. This will also encourage people from becoming lazy and not improving themselves as individuals and as well as the community around them. But, I can see also how this whole drug testing can be an invasion of a person’s private life. That’s more of the government trying to see what you do in the privacy of your home. But as I stated earlier, drugs are illegal, and the government says it’s illegal. If you are not doing anything illegal you should not have to worry about you not getting a job you are more than qualified for or have to worry about the government watching you over your shoulder. But I still think drug testing is beneficial for welfare because it can
