Banning all or some weapons is not the solution to decreasing the increased gun related violence in the United States. Having stricter gun laws and measures could keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, people with mental illness, or individuals with bad intentions. Limiting the number of bullets a magazine can hold will not keep these types of individuals from committing a crime. The solution that will not affect the responsible gun owners would be to have stricter gun control laws, thorough background checks with mental health assessment,
B.) The two Senators from every state are elected by the state’s voters. C.) The President is chosen by the votes of the people. Which decides the electoral votes to go to which ever candidate that receives the most votes. D.) The people choose the Senators and the President that have the power to appoint the judges.
The most common method of ratification is the three-fourths vote of the state legislatures. When the people prefer a change, Congress passes the amendment and the state legislatures vote to ratify. "Congressional proposal of the amendment is by a two-thirds majority vote in both houses. State ratification is by three-fourths majority" (Mount, 2006). The other ratification method is by convention that involves an entirely different body from the legislature.
For any bill to become a law, both houses of Congress must have a majority vote of approval for it to move on to the next step of legislation. Also, just like the Framers envisioned in 1787, representative government serves as a check on the rest of government, therefore preventing tyranny. Finally, Congress has the power to impeach the president, which is one of the defining powers that sets the United States apart from other countries. We citizens can also help preserve this culture of liberty in our own ways. It can be as small as just exercising our birth rights as U.S. citizens.
Do Stricter Gun-Control Laws Help Prevent Gun-Related Injuries/Deaths? Gun control arguments are a hot topic in America and around the world; it is a topic not likely to go away anytime soon. Arguments for and against carry their own merit and can be lengthy and broad by nature, but our intent is to debate the effect of gun-control laws and the effect they have on gun-related injuries/deaths. The argument presented here will get to the crux of why laws should or should not be enacted to prevent social ills. Most agree that gun-related injury or death of innocent citizens should never be tolerated, but there are opinions on the course to take in an effort to discover a solution.
Caleb Robbs Mrs. Hodgdon English III 2 May 2013 Gun control What do people think about when they hear gun control? Do thing about overruling or safety? The second amendment allows people the right to bear arms, it also allows people to own guns for self-defense and hunting. The government should not try and change the 2nd Amendment. They should not be able to take away our rights that were given to us long ago.
In a country full of violent crime, the United States continues to embody the gun as integral to it's protection and culture. While the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution grants the people the right to bear arms, the people must on the contrary protect themselves from those who bear them. In my view, guns give people a false sense of security and are more of a nuisance than a benefit. Guns are a threat to the peace and safety of society. Therefore, since it is unlikely that all guns will disappear in the United States, legislation must be enacted to ban and cease the further manufacture of the types of firearms involved in more violent crime than all others; handguns and assault-weapons.
The Bill Of Rights was ratified on December 15, 1791. Many wish that that law had been left out, but the Second Amendment was added specifically for protection. If citizens decide to buy and have firearms in there house hold, only if they are willing to us it when necessary, the Constitution has a law to protect then. Otherwise there will be consequences. I believe that not just anyone can buy guns.
This can be seen through the laws that followed after the St. Valentine’s Day massacre, John F. Kennedy assassination and the killing of Martin Luther King Junior which were meant for the government to control the type of guns that citizens could carry and use. I would highly recommend that leaders and citizens to take part in the gun control measures and laws in order to improve their safety and that of their family from crime. I decided as I said in the beginning to pick this topic because a majority of individuals have been affected by gun violence and it has become a menace to society. I will end with “Guns do not kill people. People kill people” at the end of the day gun lobbyists, owners a like and the general public should advocate for laws that encourage buyers and owners to demonstrate that they can possess a firearm lawfully and responsibly.
The reduction of the crime rates following the reduction of gun-related violence can be used to justify gun control. However, the official statistics does not support this assumption. The reasoning that guns cause crimes arises numerous disputations, as it does not consider that guns are just another mean of committing a crime. Pro-gun advocates usually assert, “Guns do not kill people; people kill people.” The Vice President, Wayne Lapierre argued that the best solution to the Newton Massacre was to allow citizens to own guns. He stated”The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” (Spitzer,
