Random locker checks are not done to torment and/or invade the privacy of the students, but for many other important reasons which include school security. These checks are required because malicious students bring drugs and weapons to school and store them in the lockers. Random locker checks should be made obligatory and done frequently to assure the wellbeing of the students. In the first place, locker checks help increase the safety in schools. Safety is a problem in every environment and especially school.
The final step of my fire escape plan is for the teachers to make sure everyone in their class has been safely evacuated a far distance from the fire. I think having a fire escape plan makes me feel a little bit safer. Even if we don’t have a real fire in the school all year long, knowing that we are prepared is a great feeling. Now I know what teachers mean when they say, “ The things I am teaching you is helping you in the future and will help your daily life,” because we used science to make our school better. By:
Especially today, when school violence is more common than how it was five years ago, added security measures would not only create a safer learning environment, but also prevent any future acts of danger; thus, the student mortality rate would drop. The preventative actions would eliminate verbal and physical abuse, gang-related violence, the usage of weapons, and possession of illegal substances. Already there are school systems that have a form of security; however violence continues to silence its authority. With that being said, standards for school security must exceed typical standards. In high schools across America, there should be at least one security guard per major building of a school.
During Columbine, the first SWAT team to arrive to the high school didn’t enter the school until forty minutes after the first 9-1-1 call. Many lives could’ve been saved if street officers were trained to enter the school. In Jennifer Hunt’s article, Police Accounts of Normal Force, she discusses how rookie police officers are being trained to take immediate action during incidents involving deadly force. The rookies are encouraged to carry around more powerful weapons, substituting the wooden baton and convoy jack (which are more likely to break when used) with the plastic nightstick and the flat-headed slapjack, in order to inflict the most damage possible in certain
Schools should save their money on those drug tests and actually test for something that is performance-enhancing and that is also hurting these young athletes. If that was the case there would be no steroid use among any high school football players and this would also keep from altering young athletes’ bodies. In some cases it would also keep from death of our young athletes today. By not testing for steroids in high school sports, we are not only letting kids think its ok, we are also altering their bodies for a small term fix. The use of steroids in high school is a problem that can be ended by drug screening, and also if coaches would care about their athletes, young lives are even being lost because people are ignoring the
Kristin Nugen English III Mrs. Colclasure Due: September 23rd, 2010 Dress Code Dress codes can be very useful and they can be very annoying. Dress codes help make the school look good. Even if it’s a bad school a good dress code will make the school look very neat and tidy. I am glad we don’t have a dress code enforced in our school because this would be very hard for me not to be able to get cute clothes and have my own individual style. The pros of a uniform dress code are that it can reduce drama in the style area.
Although many people are totally against children playing with an imitation of a deadly weapon, I however feel it is necessary to inform the minds of our future on the proper use of guns, what happens when a gun is misused, and also, how to safely store a registered gun, to prevent it from getting into the wrong hands. Guns are beneficial for many different reasons. The proper use and reason of owning a gun is important to teach children. Guns can be used in hunting, to feed a family or for the sport of game; guns are used in war to protect and serve the people of the country from terrorist; guns are also beneficial to have for safety in the home. If children are never taught how to properly use a weapon, it can turn into a dangerous tool.
They researched that there have been incidences of children who are beaten or robbed due to the clothing they are wearing. In no way does making uniforms mandatory stop violence, but it can prevent or reduce the amount of violence within the schools. 4. Are School Uniforms a Good Fit? The writer in this article states that proponents argue that uniforms can make schools safer and can also improve school attendance and increase student achievement.
One thing my school does do is send out alerts though which is helpful because you can keep up to date with what is happening with the school, but it isn’t really helpful if I’m aware of the situation and do not know how to handle it. My suggestion is for schools to do test drills to make sure the students know how to handle natural disaster situation. Once a month they should do test fire drill. When hurricane season starts up, they should prepare the students by doing hurricane drills. Students should also be knowledgeable and know what to do when there are flood warnings, gun shootings, tornados, earthquakes, and even health disasters.
It is arguable when it comes to bullying being a serious issue or not. Some people believe that bullying is a way of life and that it can make you into a better person. What people are missing is that not everyone copes with bullying the same way; especially when it occurs at a young age. Bullying can cause suicides; maybe not a lot, but that doesn’t mean the issue should be ignored
