Abortion Kourtni Birgy English 111 Argumentative Essay Abortion: Pro-life or Pro-choice? Today, abortion is a big issue concerning women because for years it has been said that abortion should not be legal. Many people feel aborting an unwanted child, or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. I feel that even though it is the woman’s body, she is carrying another body inside of her. It is not her own life that she is taking. There are other options instead of aborting. Therefore, on the topic of abortions, I am pro-life. Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival. This simply means, inducing birth to kill the fetus, or baby before it is carried to full term. The Law states that a pregnant woman can procure an abortion for reasons including rape, incest, accidental pregnancies, teen pregnancies, health risks or birth defects. Many teenagers for instance seek abortion because they are too immature to carry the baby to term. In the recent past however, it has been noted that most minors procure abortion in order to conceal their pregnancies or their sexual activity from parents. If you can’t handle the responsibility of carrying a child, you should not be having sex in the first place. It is your responsibility to use protection or stay abstinent, if you are not ready for that type of commitment. There are many precautions available. For example, condoms, birth control, which have many different methods, and the most effective which is abstinence! For women birth control, if you don’t like needles, they have pills or implants.
