Higher the Bar for Abortion Rights Jessica Hawkins Composition Class Instructor Jodie Brown Due September 29th, 2012 The United States of America should higher the bar for Abortion. A woman should not be allowed to kill her unborn baby under just any circumstance. An estimated 115,000 babies are killed every day due to Abortion Rights. (Loxafamosity Ministries, 2012) Though abortion is illegal in most states it’s still being done. As a country we all need to agree that under certain cases abortion should be considered, but other than that it’s homicide.
RE: Anand Giridharadas ,” Abortion” December 14, 2012 Abortion.. is it a women's right or should everyone have the right to life? Many believe that once the baby is alive it is considered murder. However others may believe it is up to the woman if one wants to keep it or not. This has been a topic amongst many arguments around the world and many do not come to a conclusion. It is your right to believe in what you want, so is abortion good or bad?
The controversy is that the people who are pro-life say that abortion should be considered murder and everyone has the right to live. “The best way to overturn Roe v. Wade, the ruling that legalized abortion, is to define human embryos as people from the moment of fertilization” (Pesta). The people who are pro-choice say that women should be able to decide on whether or not to have an abortion, because it is their body and they should know what is best for them, if they are raped they should have access to abortion. Women should not be able to have abortions because children should not be killed because of a disease or deformation they may have, they should not be killed just because their mother is a teenager, and even if the mother was raped the child still has a right to live. Women should not have the right to an abortion just because the fetus has a disease or deformation.
But whatever the situation, there is never an acceptable reason to get an abortion. Here are some reasons why abortion should be illegal: Adoption is another option, many women are endangered by it, birth control is another option, it can also cause misscarriages if you have 2 or more. The first reason why abortion should be illegal is because adoption is another option. Adoption is always brought up when people talk about aborting an unwanted child. There are tons of people who get rejected when they apply to adopt a child.
One of the main differences between adoption and abortion is that abortion ends a life in order to end a pregnancy whereas adoption requires the giving up of the young or new born baby. Adoption also gives the mother the memory of giving birth even if she isn’t and never may be, in the position to give birth again. This can prove a life changing and eye opening experience to young women which could really change their maturity on the topic or later life or even just the prospect of birth. There are countless other differences that separate the mother when addressing adoption and abortion, the contact with the child, the finality of the decision, all of which are things which could lend themselves equally dependant on the mother’s current position in life and the mother’s mentality on having children. There are, however, benefits to the child in this topic.
Ethics and Moral Problems Final Project April 17, 2012 Philosophical viewpoints on Abortion Abortion is a big controversy, a talked about subject that goes on every day in our lives. Abortion can be thought of pro-life; moral and ethical rights for the fetus to live. Is it morally justifiable for an embryo to have moral rights or is the fetus a person that should be protected? It can also be looked at as pro-choice; having the right to terminate the pregnancy is your decision because it is “your child” which can be immoral and unethical. I will use some critical thinking like what a human being really is?
Pro-life is the opposing argument to pro-choice, and that abortions should be made illegal like in Northern Ireland unless the mother’s life is at serious risk. Many Religions have the traditional view that abortion is a sin. It is argued that if a teenager becomes pregnant and has an abortion they may come to regret this in later life, because at the time they were only a minor. The argument for Pro-life is a choice by people who feel that it is wrong to take a man life, weather that human has been born or not is irrelevant. Abortion is seen as no different to murder.
Approximately 1.3 million unplanned pregnancies end in abortion every year. There are several reasons women choose to have abortions such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, it is the individual woman’s decision. If an abortion is denied, the women would have the child in unsafe living conditions and the child would not get everything he/she needs to live a good life. First Trimester Abortions should not be viewed negatively because a woman's body is her own, circumstances are always different, and a woman has individual rights.
She might end up resenting the child and blaming the baby for everything. If someone isn’t ready to have kids, whether they’re too young or not financially stable, abortion should be available to them as an option until they’re prepared for kids or can offer they’re child a better future. Reasons against: Abortion has many benefits to it, but like many controversial topics abortion has its detractors. Many of its detractors say that through abortion you’re taking the life of an innocent child. Another reason against abortion is the long term effect it will cause a woman.
Abortion Should Be Illegal As many people know, abortion is a procedure to end pregnancy. In the United States, the majority of women getting an abortion are under the age of 25. Although people believe a fetus is not a human until birth, this is not true. Life begins at conception. This debate will continue for centuries.
