"Gatorade focus has always been fluid replacement" (Theodore). Gatorade is specifically designed to refuel the body quicker than water or any sports drink for that matter. Gatorade Company spends most of its time making sure the consumer will not overheat. "The company maintains that its formula of carbohydrates (sucrose, glucose and fructose) and electrolytes (potassium and sodium) is the optimal mixture for stimulating fluid absorption, helping the body maintain fluid balance, providing energy to working muscles and enhancing athletic performance" (Kays and Phillips). All the ingredients in Gatorade are exactly made to make sure you stay hydrated.
Likewise, the low price of water indicates that transportation must not be that expensive. Where some say that tap water is free, others believe that it is not due to factors that contribute like the cost of drainage, piping, electricity, treatment, etc. Although both sides of this issue have merit, I believe that water bottles should not be an issue. Personally, I prefer the water from a water bottle due to it's connivence and despite what experiments say, I can tell a difference between tap and bottled water. I myself do recycle and having water bottles actually encourages me to drink water to be healthy.
Bottled water Debates appear to have grown a lot on whether bottled water is worth spending money on or not, especially while it is available for free. However, we all know that tap water is cleaned that have been through so many waste. Dr.Pankaj Parekh, director of the water quality division of the city of Los Angeles, has mentioned that, “Water in some cities containers, has contained contaminants that become likely cancer-causing compounds when exposed to sunlight” (Duhigg, “That Tap Water Is Legal But Maybe Unhealthy”)1. Furthermore, not all countries in the world have their tap water drinkable. Bottled water has negative and positive effects on the environment and human health.
1. Elizabeth Royte’s question “For now, what should we be drinking?” is answered throughout the excerpt by saying that tap water is no better than bottled water. Although bottled water labels say their water comes from the best of the best types of filter, its often a lie and comes from the same type of water that comes through your tap water, according to Royte. She supports her conclusion throughout the whole excerpt with specific example and evidence. Although she has a water filter in her tap water, she believes it is almost the same without one.
Companies are forced to create safer products for the public to use, and also learn to make better with fewer resources. Corporations must invent new ways to cut down on their waste and work with less to create more. Corporations work diligently to cut down their use of water and electricity and other essential needs. They have educated the public about the importance of recycling used products and keeping their environment clean. Over consumption has led to many cures and medicines being created, and has made the world a better and safer place then it once was.
(U.S. EPA, 2005,para 12) The reason for using these disinfectants in the water systems like chlorine and chloramine is because they are effective and inexpensive and as it travels through the pipes it continues to disinfect traveling to the homes and businesses. (Flouride, 2012, para4).Now knowing this fact is the reason why the tap water has a distinguish taste to it and after a while traveling through the pipelines the lines tends to get rusty and gets into the homes and businesses and that is bad for the health. (Water and Health series, Bottled water basics, 2005,para,
They try to gain our consideration by emphasizing that as good neighbors they care about the environment by being “Green”. This means they maximize the natural light, use LED lighting and use recycled materials because it is good for our planet. Good for our neighborhood and good for our budget. In their website Tim Mason, who is the CEO of fresh & easy says, “We are trying to set global example by measuring and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, helping to stimulate the development of low carbon technology and by empowering consumers by providing them with choice, value and information”. By using this quote, fresh & easy is playing with our wishes of having a better place to live and to leave for future generations.
(http://water.epa.gov/lawsregs/lawsguidance/cwa/tmdl/glossary.cfm#section303d) Water quality research is very important to our society. This will help us protect our nations water systems, help us achieve a total maximum daily load of waste allocations on pollution. This will help sustain the ecological processes to support vegetation, fish populations, birdlife and our wetlands. (http://water.epa.gov/scitech/swguidance/standards/imp.cfm) The reason why this experiment is being done is to test my water system, and to determine the quality for life. The more we know about our water the better off we will be.
dishwashers and therefore water wastage is less likely. However, most people in LICS buy their water from informal venders and therefore it’s hard to know whether this water was extracted correctly which means that water is more likely to be wasted during the process. Although it is unlikely that individuals in LICS can overuse clean water supply, total use as a whole country could also contribute to water resources being drained. In developed countries such as USA and UK the figure shows that GDP is high and water costs are low. As water is inexpensive people in HICS have a much better quality of life as the can use water for luxuries and every home has access to running water.
We could ask our city officials to bring back water fountains. We could work to ban the use of bottled water in schools or entire city. This video has opened my eyes. I always knew that bottled water could be dangerous to the environment, but if you recycled them that it wouldn’t be as bad. Now that I know that recycling really doesn’t do that much.
