Chanelle Prior ENG 4U1 Formal Essay September 30, 2009 Imagine you come home to find your entire family has been shot to death by a nervous burglar who was just looking to steal your TV. This would be a tragic event to experience and would also be extremely difficult to handle. For some people this scene is a reality. However, far more people would have to experience this or something similar if it were not for Canada’s strict gun control laws. It is evident that gun control laws in Canada are a necessary precaution to prevent homicides. If no gun laws are in place then it will be far too easy for a young child to take their parents gun to school and shoot a classmate. In addition, there are situations where one owns a gun and their anger gets the better of them causing them to accidently shoot the gun. This later results in the regret of the situation, whether it was death or a severe injury. There have also been accidental incidents in hunting situations. A person hunting for deer may see another person but mistake them for a deer and unintentionally shoot and kill that person. With more severe gun control laws people do not have to be worried about being the innocent by standard. People will be kept safe from accidental…show more content…
Because of the legal limitations on guns, people can become discouraged from owning a gun, children are kept safe from gun violence and the chance of homicide or fatal accidents with a firearm are lessened. When legal limitations are put on firearms, it makes people feel that guns are unnecessary to own. Gun control laws help protect our children and teenagers from pointless violence that could lead to death or serious injury. The regulations put in place will in turn lessen the amount of homicides and fatal accidents. Now, think back to that horrible scenario, with limitations put on guns, hopefully no one will have to experience that tragic
