What if that was one of your family member, wouldn’t you want them to be able to protect themselves? I would think so. Many people don’t think of gun violence this way but, it is very true. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It’s the person behind the gun that causes the death and deviation known with gun violence. So gun control is not the answer to the problem.
It sounds confusing but when people see a man with a gun, no matter what side of the law he is on, they will get intimidated and possibly fear him. Taking away this gun will give that man less power, but he will also gain the people’s respect. For a society with police and people to coexist peacefully without conflict, weapons should not be involved. This way, less crime will occur and police will be respected more. A real life example of this perfect world is England today.
Less people will have an access to a gun causing fewer deaths to happen by gun violence conflicts. Even sale of guns illegally will go down because the dealer won’t have access to the guns either. If a law like this is passed the deaths caused by gun violence could decrease. There
Gun control is without a doubt one of the largest and most polarizing social debates of the year. Gun control is the effort to regulate or control sales of guns (Oxford English Dictionary, 2013). One of the most recent shootings events took place at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. The indiscriminate use of guns by individuals to harm society has brought the issue into the light of public debate. Gun casualties and incidents throughout the country have woken the public up from its ignorance and shown them the danger guns can pose to society (Martinez, 2013).
It is really not something you want to play around with. Because once you kill that person you cant bring them back. Just knowing you killed a person with a gun is just as bad as you using it. After they use the gun to kill someone they try and hide it, so they don’t get in trouble for the crime. But how I see it is, you do the time for your crime.
Just because more gun control laws will be put in place does not mean guns will be completely banned. With gun control the more powerful and larger guns could be banned. For example, high capacity magazines could be banned because mass shootings usually take place with semi-automatic guns. By banning large magazines, less people would be able to be injured in the event of a mass shooting. People believe by putting gun control into action it would put people in harms way.
When someone thinks of the word “handgun” their minds will automatically think of something small, concealable, and deadly. What some people do not realize is that it is not handguns that commit the crime, but the hands and actions of the criminal. Allowing handguns to remain legal will allow individuals to feel safer and secure in their homes and it also protects our constitutional right to bear arms. Banning handguns will not only increase crime, but it will create a new situation that is similar to drug trafficking. With rising crime rates, law abiding citizens should be buying handguns to protect themselves.
Living in fear is not how we want to live. Guns provide people with a false sense of safety, and it's true that guns do not kill people, but rather people do. Therefore, more guns do not solve gun shootings and mass school shootings but is danger for the society. Comparing to other countries that don't allow people to have guns, such as the China, the gun crime rate and murder rate is a lot lower than those same statistics in the US. In addition, we don’t need assault weapon to protect ourselves, its not a 'civilians' job to stop criminals who possess guns, it is the police's job.
The new laws have provided an avenue to get back to our roots and protect our rights. Gun laws only limit the good guys and the bad guys don’t get their guns from a store, they come from the street and many people will die in the street if they can’t defend themselves.
Gun Violence is a problem in the United States as well as in our community. So now we need to find a way to control gun violence. Guns themselves, however, are not the case of the violence, and gun control will do nothing to decrease violent crimes. People who decide to kill will find a way to kill even if they do not have access to guns. Therefore, guns cannot be singled out and blamed for all of gun control.
