Are cell phones safe? The safety of cell phone use is becoming a major factor in our world today, causing different scientific researches to take place. According to Federal Communications Commissions, radiation levels in cell phones called Radio Frequency Radiation is considered to have no negative health affects. But scientific research shows that it can be the cause of cancer, fertility decrease, damage DNA, and become the risk of traffic accidents. If the FCC and other US government agencies considered that this radiation had no affect on health, why are the use and safety of cell phones being questioned? As a major cell phone user, the safety of using cell phones should be a concern of mine. Learning that it causes no real negative health affects has made it no longer a big problem. If the safety was such a big deal why haven’t this same proposition been brought forward about the use of televisions, radios, and laptops, because they all use the same type of radiation that is produced by cell phones. The only real safety issue that seems to be a concern to people is the fact that it may cause cancer. But to be assured the National Cancer Institute says that there has been no increase of brain cancers between the years 1987 and 2005 while the first cell phone was established in 1973, and also the fact that cell phone use had a dramatic increase during those years. Also Cell phone radiation levels are tested and certified by the manufacturer to meet the safe levels established by the FCC before being put on the market. Now the only other major concern of the safety of cell phones is how likely they can cause traffic accidents. This problem can be solved by simply not using a cell phone while behind the wheel of a vehicle at any time.
