1. What is the Quartz value proposition to plumbers? To consumers? The benefits of Quartz were significant. While a traditional shower installation could take two days, some plumbers could install a Quartz in under a day due to the fact that positioning the mechanism that mixes the water away from the shower didn’t mean excavating in most cases. Installation time decreased from two days to a half-day, making plumbers available to do more jobs since they had more time, which meant they could increase the money they earned. Plumbers were finding that the installation was so simple that they could even send their young apprentices, many with little experience, to complete the entire job. Being able to send apprentices to install the Quartz also meant more money as apprentices make less money than journeyman plumbers. Plumbers loved the “push-fit-connect-you’re done” installation of the Quartz as well as its ease of use. For consumers, the Quartz provided efficient and reliable water pressure and temperature. It also featured a “one-touch” control mounted on the shower wall. The easy to use push-button control light on the valve flashed red until the desired temperature was reached. Parents loved the product because it was safe for their kids to use on their own. Elderly loved it because they didn’t have to fight with stiff valves. The ease of installation reduced the need for excavation and mess. The size being that of a shoe box also enhanced the cosmetic look as the processor could be hidden under a cabinet or in a closet. The ability of the plumber to install the Quartz in half a day would also lead to consumers having a greater access to plumbers since the normal waiting period was six months. While the Quartz retail price was higher than other Aqualisa products, the labor of the plumber would be much less. 2. Why is the Quartz not selling?
