North America by the mid 1700’s consisted of three major regions. The New England region included the colonies of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The Deep Southern Region included North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Cheapeake included Virginia, Maryland, the New Jerseys and Pennsylvania Each region differed in terms of climate, population, economy, and religious views. The New England, Southern, & Chesapeake colonies were both settled by immigrants from England. T. All colonies would have their problems and get help from the Indians.All colonies also created the slave code which pretty much said slaves and their children were pronounced to be slaves for life. The code made it illegal to teach slaves to read. With these slave codes, legal racial bias became part of the law in the American colonies. In New England, small towns were the centers of local government. The New England Confederation was formed to provide defense against Indians, Dutch, and the French. The Chesapeake government was run by the people. The Deep South was run by a governor through the king. If something happened to the governor, the king would step in. The New England region was founded upon religious views and the Puritans wanted to escape economic hard times in England from the taxes they were starting. The New Englanders were very religious based, and claimed that they "were far more godly than all other colonists." Their economy was based on fishing, shipbuilding, and somewhat farming. Compared to the Chesapeake and deep South, the New England region had far better resources. For example, the water in the north was far more clean and less contaminated than the water found in the south.
