First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest and sincerest apologies for lying. I have reflected very deeply and thoroughly upon this incident and understand the potential trouble, grief and anger that which I have caused my commanders when I lie. To lie means to make an untrue statement with the intent to deceive. Basically it also means to create a false or misleading statement on purpose. It is for these reasons that lying is greatly frowned upon in civilian society as well as in the context of the Singapore Armed Forces as a very deceiving and unforgiving act. Lying is when a person does not tell the truth or does not tell all the facts of the truth. There might be many different opinions and or even many different excuses for the reason why anyone might want to lie, However, the very definition of lying itself expresses greatly as to why a person, or people, a society, a community, a government, an army, or even a whole nation for that matter, would think of this act of deception with such a considerably immense negative outlook. After reflecting upon the matter very deeply and thoroughly, I can understand the reasons why lying is considered morally wrong and why it is such a grave and immoral mistake or action to be committed by a soldier or anyone in the army. I can also understand why the army has such little tolerance towards soldiers lying or just lying in general after this reflection of mine. The reason so is because a soldier is looked upon to and also trusted to tell the truth of any and every issue or dispute no matter what the circumstances and situation. A soldier is also looked upon to uphold his or her integrity and moral values as well as his or her core values and their code of conduct within the army. I have understood that I am expected to always respond and answer with the truth and nothing but the truth no matter what kind of
