Post-Lab Question Set#1 Graph #1: [pic] A1. The graphical equation is y=0.03x+2.2099. At first the mass of iodine remains constant, but as the mass of zinc increases, the mass of iodine increases to 3.01 and then decreases to 2.06. A2. The name of the law would be conservation of mass and energy. Mass is conserved; it remains constant and then increases. A3. This relationship occurs because zinc is a metal and iodine is a non-metal. As the mass of zinc increases, the atomic particles tend to have more motion and the reaction between both substances requires more mass. A4. Approximately, 2 grams of zinc would react with 2.75 grams of Iodine. The graph helps illustrate an idea of an expected or observed reaction between iodine and zinc. The slope of the graph 0.03 and the molar mass ratio between iodine to zinc is approximately 3.88, so the slope is lower than the expected mass ratio. The slope helps explain that the steepness of the graph between points 1 and 2 on the x axis is very low. A6.
