English Persuasive Essay In light of the recent shark culling issue, it has come to many Australian citizen’s attention that something must be done about this situation. It is a situation of ‘kill or be killed’ and the question must be asked as to which is more important: A human’s life or a shark’s life? Sharks already suffer enough from being slaughtered to be put in Shark Fin Soup or for medical research and should not be culled, as they are such an important part of the natural world we live in. Why else would they have survived for longer than the dinosaurs? It is imperative that we look after these majestic creatures and ensure they remain protected.
Furthermore, it would also have a heavy influence on the amount and quality of farming. If the water were to become polluted due to human contamination, then that would result in even less fresh water for farming food. This would be extremely detrimental due to the fact that the population of California is expected to grow from 35 million to 55 million by 2050. Therefore, resources would become even scarcer, and prices, in turn, will sky rocket. Each of these components are a recipe for failure, and would leave the southern part of the state-which contains two-thirds of the state’s population-with very little fresh water
(A) The absence of advanced forms of marine flora (B) The reduced assortment of aquatic animals (C) The moderate extent of the geographic area (D) The close proximity of more suitable aquatic habitats Paragraph 1 is marked with an arrow . The open ocean, termed the pelagic region by oceanographers, consists of all nonlittoral marine areas, and comprises roughly sixty-five percent of the total volume of the world’s oceans. Although the region lacks the biotic density and diversity of the coastal waters, primarily because of the absence of complex forms of vegetation and suitable surfaces for the formation of coral reefs, it is inhabited by a wide variety of species that are able to thrive in this unique
But the hatcheries around Africa are too important to close down. So if the yield of the hatchery continues to decrease every year sooner or later the hatchery will have a change in management. Not only is the fish hatcheries are being affected by poaching the sale of ivory in Africa has also been affected. . “In Kenya, uncarved ivory was worth $2.50 a pound in 1969, $34 a pound in 1978, and
Overpopulation will be biggest problem of the 21th century. Overpopulation means any given species cannot exceed the carrying capacity of the land it inhabits. Because of the pressure overpopulation, people don’t have enough water, food, and living area. This is the reason they develop the vast forest area used for farming and clear the area the people to live. For example in areas of Nepal, they cut down the vegetation to provide wood for heating and construction, the fertile topsoil is eroded by rain because it is now without the protection offered by natural vegetation.
Although clearing trees in the Amazon provides economic benefits, the environmental effects are serious dangers to it’s ecosystem as well as species within it. The Amazon rainforest is often considered one of the natural marvels of the world because of its enormous size and massive river. The rainforest has been in existence for over 55 million years, however archeological findings suggest the first signs of human life were present roughly 11,200 years ago. Biologists have stated that even by 1250 AD the population was nearly 0.52 persons per square mile, supporting a hunter-gatherer type of tribes. Because of this, there were no forms of agriculture causing no need for deforestation.
Besides global warming there is another problem with this beautiful structure and that is the result of several local natural and human factors such as over fishing. Silt from deforested lands and pollution from crowded coastlines choke them, and overuse and destroy coral reefs. There are many other factors which if they are not stopped it will destroy all coral reefs. Corals are animals, not plants; sunlight is the key to their survival. They need it to power the millions of microscopic algae, called zooxanthellae, that live in their tissues.
Logging can also contribute to these problems. The reason why the population of Amur Leopards has been decreasing is because of hunting, loss of habitat, negative causes for inbreeding, development projects, and lack of protection. The lack of political commitment to conservation, meaning the people who are supposed to watch out for this endangered animal are not doing such a great job. And as you can tell, hunters and poachers are not allowed to kill this animal, but according to, Critically Endangered Amur Leopard Only 35 Left In Wild, in the year 2002 in Russia, nine Amur Leopard skins were found. Moreover, two were killed in China.
The ocean dwellers are virtually helpless, and they will ultimately have to suffer the consequences that have been created mainly by humans. Over the past few years there has been a significant change in marine life. Coral reefs are becoming endangered due to high carbon dioxide levels and effects of warming. Large predators, small fish, and other organisms make their homes in coral reefs. A process called mass bleaching has also become a danger to coral reefs.
I feel that "extinction" is not something that has to happen, but happens because humans do not take care of the natural world, the way they should. Many extinctions, including birds and other living creatures, can simply be avoided if humanity put it in their best interest to change the way we run our ecosystem, considering how much these beautiful creatures help us maintain this earth. One of the greatest threats a bird endures is habitat loss. Birds from all regions such as forests, wetlands, grasslands, mountains, etc are losing their homes and resulting in their extinction. Another threat as previously mentioned is from humankind.
