Autumn Weaver Kerri Allen English 1101 14 November 2011 The Theories of Animal Experimentation Around the world, animals are utilized to test products ranging from shampoo to new cancer drugs. Each and every medication used by humans is first tested on the animals.) Currently, questions have been raised about the ethics surround animal testing. Acceptance of such experimentations is subject to a lot of argumentation. As the statistics indicate animal testing is dangerous and harmful, but medical research must continue.
Discuss methodological issues in the study of psychokinesis (4 marks + 6 marks) There are many methodological issues with research into psychokinesis, one being that it’s highly fraudulent. Many times which individuals who claim to be able to do psychokinesis tend to not be able to show their ‘powers’ when put in controlled settings. The existence of macro-PK should be able to be easily demonstrated under controlled conditions however, till this date, no compelling evidence has been produced and hence a great focus is put on micro-PK, frankly because it can easily be shown through trickery. An example of fraud in psychokinesis is Uri Geller, who was the most well-known person for psychokinesis abilities and claimed to have powers that he used to bend spoons, stop clocks, be telepathic etc. Gellar, however, would never be able to reproduce his powers when asked to perform on the spot.
From doing this there was a statue of him put up in the train station. Show me a cat that loyal. There are many other examples of dogs showing these amazing characteristics but the list is too long. This is one of the many reasons why I think dogs are better than cats. Dogs can be of magnificent service.
It starts off by introducing a successful cloning of an Ewe named Dolly. The cloning of Dolly was a shock to our world. Laboratories around the world started working on ways to duplicate this breakthrough. As the years go by, scientists begin to realize how different and lucky Dolly really was. Scientists have tried to clone other animals such as mice, cows, cats, pigs and most recently a dog.
Argument Analysis: Animal Liberation Peter Singer’s “Animal Liberation” gave me a whole new perspective on animals and the way humans have been treating them. It is a convincing piece because it provides information that you would not have known about animals and the way they are being treated. I did not think about the animals and how their life was like before they were prepared as food for the people. Singer argues that since animals cannot speak for themselves we the people decide to speak for them but we do not know exactly what they want. It is true that we do things to animals that we are not for certain how are they are affected by it.
The Unjustifiable Torture of the Innocent Nour M. Al-Hajj Lebanese American University Abstract This paper aims to examine animal testing in both the medical and cosmetics fields. Animal testing allowed the acquisition of crucial knowledge in the medical field, but, some of these results are not applicable to human beings (Tatum IV & William O., 2009). Furthermore, alternative testing methods will be explored throughout this paper that can replace animal testing that can provide us with more reliable results (Alternatives to, n.d.). In addition, this paper will show why animal testing in the cosmetics field should be avoided and stopped and will shed light on the fact that the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t require animal testing for cosmetics (The Hidden, n.d.). However, animal testing in the medical field is acceptable in extreme cases only such as, exploring cures for deadly diseases such as AIDs.
Animal Experimentation: Animal testing is Cruel and Unethical Animal Experimentation: Animal testing is Cruel and Unethical Causing pain and suffering to animals is a very cruel, inhumane, and unethical. Although animal experimentation is an inhumane and an unethical act, professionals believe this act can helps find cures for illnesses and disease in humans. Overtime scientists have discovered similarities in animals and humans. Therefore animals are now enduring pain and suffering in order to find comfort and cures for humans’. Tests are administered in cruel and brutal ways just for the possibility of a cure.
Some people say these experiments are cruel, and animals should not be used. While others say they would rather see these experiments done on animals instead of humans themselves. b. Thesis statement- Animal experimentation for medical purposes should be carried out, instead of scientist performing human tests. c. Main points- My main points are; medical advances for humans due to animal experiments, medical advances for animals due to animal experimentation, how the animals are really treated, laws that are enforced, and why animals are used. 2.
1.0 Introduction 1.1Background of the issue This report is written to study the effects of animal testing on the cosmetic products among the developing countries as there are issues which happened to cause government and non-governmental organisations as well as the societies around the world to analyse the relationship between the two. Animal testing is an experiment that is carried out on the animals to ensure the safety and effectiveness of certain medications or cosmetics. In 1930, ‘Lash Lure’, a mascara which is a type of cosmetic product that contains a chemical that could burn the skin has caused more than a dozen women to go blind. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was passed in 1938 prompted by requiring safety testing of
Back then she had realize that animals have emotions and we need to treat them equally. She also realize in what conditions animals are kept and scientists believe that “animal testing is the only way forward for medical research” ( p. 178). For instance scientists have included chimpanzees in medical research for AIDS, which the author argues that chimpanzee’s genetic makeup is different from ours and is a shame to still use them of this kind of research. However the law requires testing all sorts of drugs on animals before is giving to human
