English 2 Theme Connections Sometimes by reading books you find themes that may connect with your own reality. As a class we’ve read a complex novel with some very well thought out themes that we give the author props for. Although it was many to pick from, I only could really go in depth with connections on four. The four I’ve chosen are color, hope, extravagance, and social class. Scott Fitzgerald , ) This quote is negative but it does tie in with the definition of hope. It was something Daisy wanted to happen due to the way she was feeling. Adding that there was hope shown by other characters like Gatsby and his hope for the future. Connecting this theme with my life, I’d think of hope as something positive or a feeling you need in order to succeed, like faith. For example I have hope for better than what I have everyday, another example would be if I said ‘I hope he is okay.’ Next is extravagance. Extravagance is the excessive elaborateness of style, speech, or
