Anchorman is set in the 1970’s and stars Will Ferrel as Ron Burgandy, San Diego’s top rated news anchorman. When ambitious female news presenter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) sets foot in the news office, things do not go down too well with Ron and his team- Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell). Having to adjust to the idea of a female in the workplace, Ron soon finds himself dating Veronica. But one day, a horrendous tragedy happens. When Ron carelessly throws a burrito out of his car window at a passing motorcyclist, things get ugly and result in the motorcyclist kicking Ron’s dog Baxter off the highway bridge and into the sea. Devastated, Ron is unable to pull himself together in time to report the news. Seeing her chance, Veronica takes this chance to fill in for Ron’s news reporting. Not unpredictably, Veronica takes San Diego’s approval and is appointed co-anchorman, to Ron’s disgust. But Veronica seems to be getting too carried away, and one day she changes Ron’s news script, fooling him to say some very bad words on national television. Ron is fired, and seems to be a lost soul, wandering the streets of San Diego and taking insults from passers by. The time of year comes when the news team’s top story is at its peak-Local panda is finally giving birth! Veronica races to the scene to get prime coverage, but tragically, is pushed into a bear enclosure by a rival anchorman. Veronica’s manager is then forced to call Ron Burgandy to the scene. When Ron arrives, he is drawn between making the break-through of his career and rescuing Veronica. He chooses to rescue Veronica, but once inside the bear enclosure, immediately regrets his decision. Luckily, the rest of the news team comes to the rescue, and together they fight the bears!
