By 1943 he began a series of annual concerts at Carnegie Hall, which was an indication of how much jazz was now accepted in prestigious western classical concert venues. Ellington used this opportunity to write longer and more ambitious works in several movements, like the epic musical history of African-American life, Black, Brown and Beige. Between 1927 and 1931 the Ellington Orchestra played its most famous residency. A Day of Jazz in the park Observation Essay 7/23/13 Over the weekend I went to the 18 annual Jazz Fest West concert at Bonelli Park in San Dimas. We parked our cars at the Pomona Fairplex and transported by charter buses to the venue. When we arrived at the park the whole east shore side of the park was gated off for the venue. We traded our paper tickets for wristbands to get in the park. I’m excited about the concert because this will be my first time seeing Fantasia in concert live.
DJ Williams Projekt Two days ago on Sunday, December 9th I went with my roommate, to see the DJ Williams Projekt, one of the most popular bands of Richmond in recent times. The group consisted of DJ Williams on guitar, also added vocals from time to time, Dusty Simmons on the drums, Brian Mahne on the keyboard, Gordon Jones on the saxophone, Todd Herrington on the bass, and Mark Ingraham on the trumpet. Café Diem, which holds an open mic night every Sunday, is where this sextet performed for us. It is a small restaurant located on N. Sheppard Street in Richmond. Besides for open mic night on Sundays, they have live music every night of the week.

Blues music, along with jazz, continued to influence and inspire musicians for decades to come to continue playing blues as well as to create new styles of music. Musicians such as Ma Rainey, “The Mother of Blues” and Jimmie Rodgers “The Father of Blues” made blues the success it was in the 1920s and the foundation for new music later on. Guitarists such as Blind Blake and banjo players like Charlie Poole inspired musicians with their styles and techniques (“1920s Jazz, Blues, Radio”).
Colbie Caillat On Aug. 21, 2012 I had went to Colbie Collibet and Gavin Degraw concert at the antelope valley fairgrounds. It was my first time seeing these two artists and they did not disappoint me at all. I love going to shows where the co-headliners or main interact with not only the audience but with each other's performance. Colbie’s voice was sweet and sensual that it makes me want my hubby to be at the show with me! Her songs make me want to fall in love and to be loved all at the same time.

“I was proud to be included in that project, and really appreciated his efforts to bring the world of hip-hop and jazz together,” said pianist Bob James, who appeared on 2007’s Jazzmatazz Vol. 4. (LATimes). Although Gang Starr was producing albums that incorporated jazz elements in their music, it was with the release of his series of Jazzmatazz albums when Guru was credited for creating a fusion between jazz and hip-hop.
