Because were always on the go; the quick and affordability of fast food fits perfect for the kinds of busy lives we are living. It seems we as people are so busy trying to keep up or stay ahead in life that we miss the opportunities to avoid fast food and get healthier products. During your lunch break you step outside and what do you see? Tons of places which serve healthy choices. However due to sales, deals, catchy slogans, and it’s simple convenience, we are forced into making the decision of getting fast food without realizing it thus displaying lack of personal responsibility.
The choosing of a husband is Bessie biggest conflict with her father. Reb Smolinsky, her father, commented several times as to how she is too old for anyone to want to marry and will end up an old maid. Her father chooses a husband who is much older than she and whom she has no interest. Bessie pleads for her father not to do this and angrily he shouts, “So this is the thanks for all I’ve done for you? This is how you thank me for getting you a man when you’re such a dried-up old maid that no one want to give a look on you.” Giving in to the demands of her father, Bessie marries Zalmon, the fish market owner, and raises his children.
If the grandmother stopped preaching about how the new world has fallen from the Christian faith, and opened her eyes to her real life, she would have saved the whole family from the misfit. Garo 2 The grandmother’s son, Bailey, seemed exhausted of having to take care of his own mother. He doesn’t bother raising his head when his mother is trying to get him to read the paper about “the misfit.” This creates Foreshadowing and a bit of irony to the story because in the end the misfit is what brings him and his family to his demise. Not only does he ignore his mother, but when she wants to take the children to see the old plantation, he sighs, gets aggravated and didn’t want to be bothered. Although her tired son may have a good soul, he is not a good man in the sense he seems tired and lifeless in the story.
This truthfulness however lands her in a bad place as she is disowned by her father for not professing her love. Gonerill and Regan are the complete opposite here as they show dishonesty in lying about how much each of them loves their father. As soon as their father has given them their share of inheritance they become ungrateful and no longer care for their father. ‘And in good time you gave it.’ Here Regan tells Lear that he took his time
First of all, To Kill a Mockingbird is an example of good literature because it has theme statements; one theme statement in this book is social inequality. One example of social inequality in this book is the Cunninghams. The Cunninghams are poor and have to trade goods for services. Scout must explain to the new teacher that Walter Cunningham will not accept lunch money from her because he cannot pay her back. The children of the town see this social problem as normal and think nothing of it.
After being hit by his own father, Sarty thinks to him self: “If I had said they wanted only the truth, justice, he would have hit me again.” (189). It is obvious that Sarty is afraid and aware the consequences if he acts out against his family. Throughout the story Abner displays an abusive, heartless character that is loyal only to him and struggles with class warfare and pyromania. After being sentenced to leave the country the family arrives at their next house, He never shows any emotion to his family, never once an apology for putting them through so much for his actions. He demands his two daughters to “get out of them chairs and help your Ma unload” (189).
Zinczenko claims that “Many single parents claim that working long hours and having low income contributes to why their children eat the way they do” (153). Since children aren’t getting enough attention and care from parents many children turn to food for comforting. Children are away from their parents and have to make their own decisions when it comes to dinner time. They take the easy way out and order high calorie foods at cheaper prices. Their choices of fast food diets are poorly based on the amount of money parents give their children.
Her father caught in the act and without even asking Lily what happened told her, “You act no better than a slut” (24). He then proceeded to, “[Pour] a pound of grits the size of an anthill onto the pine floor” and told Lily, “Get over here and kneel down.” (24). The ramifications of a parent, especially a father figure to call their kid a slut causes so much emotional damage. Not only did her father ignore Lily, which also added to her trust issues, she developed self confidence and self image issues due to this. She only saw herself as an inadequate woman, and never as a beautiful, intelligent, woman who deserved better than she had.
So the true causes of evil are her father trapping her and keeping her away from people and men so long that she literally ends up crazy. Her father was apparently a cruel old man who never wanted his daughter to find true love and move away from him. “None of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such.” (48) “So when she got to be thirty and was still single, we were not pleased exactly, but vindicated; even with insanity in the family she wouldn't have turned down all of her chances if they had really materialized.” (49, 50) These two quotes show that her father was a real evil man who never saw any man well enough for his daughter and by the time she was thirty she was still single and really did not have a clue what she had been through and that she
In fact he becomes so angry that he tells Ophelia that he never loved her and that instead of marrying she should go to a nunnery rather then pass on her genes to children. At this point in the story, Hamlet makes it seem as if he is not interested in women anymore. For the readers perspective at this point in the story they are clue less as to the true feelings of Hamlet. Hamlet also does not have very much respect for his mother anymore. This may be why he has such a difficult time getting along with women.
