While I understand the views of both men, I believe that Machiavelli’s perspective is more prevalent and useful in the world today. Machiavelli rights that a leader needs to show his prowess and confidence in his decisions which helps make people want to follow the leader. He writes with a more realistic but cynical point of view. Lao Tzu writes from the side that all humans are inherently good. Lao Tzu trusts all people to do the right thing and says not to force any expectations into people as that will cause them only to backlash.

.” Another reason Alexander’s respect for his army indicated his good leadership skills is due to the fact that he would always fight in battle with his men and would never let them fight alone. Being loyal to them and/or yourself shows honor. In our world today Beowulf, from the poem Beowulf, would be a hero because he shows courage and never gives up. Fearless courage, brick wall strength, and the spirit to never give up are all of the characteristics to being a hero. Beowulf is very self-confident and trusting in God, and even fights Grendel unarmed, and without any protective armor because of his faith.
This is a very pure profession of his loyalty. I know I would not let somebody go chopping away at my head if it was not for a good reason, Gawain’s Loyalty and obligation to the throne was reason enough for him. Sir Gawain, though an honorable man, who possess great characteristics such as loyalty, an honorable code and an above par chivalry code.
