In my own opinion this causes many issues which can lead people to do immoral things and commit bad crimes, and be able to justify their actions by stating it was already determined for them to do it. With this idea you can’t be praised for doing good things or punished for doing bad as we did not choose to preform or commit these actions. Ted Honderich was a hard determinist and said all our choices, intentions and our actions are nothing more than effects from other past events that have already happened. David Hume would criticise this he argues against hard determinism and says we do have free will and moral responsibility, we are responsible for all our moral and non-moral actions regardless of whether they could have been determined by our past choices or values. John Hospers also thought all things were determined.
As there are two sides to a coin, there are two groups of believers- one that supports pacifism, and the other that does not. The basic principle of Pacifism is mainly to oppose the idea and act of war and violence completely. The ideology stems from the severity and moral derogation of war, where violence is used to take away or injure innocent lives, deeming it to be morally incorrect. With this thread of thought comes the inevitable conclusion that violence is never justified. Truthfully, violence has never been a concept that could be morally justified.
If fetuses are considered to persons with the same moral status as typical adult humans, opponents of abortion would tend to make the argument that “Every person has a right to life. A fetus is a person, therefore it has a right to life.” With this taken into account, opponents of abortion also believe that since the fetus is a person with the right to life, its right to life outweighs the mother’s right to decide what happens in her body. Therefore the fetus should the be killed and an abortion should not be preformed as it is often considered morally impermissible to kill another person with the same moral status as typical adult humans. However, we should consider a case in which the mother will die if an abortion is not preformed. Despite the fact that both she and the fetus has the equal right to life, opponents of abortion would still consider it wrong to preform an abortion with reasons ranging from killing an innocent person is always wrong and is murder to one must always prefer letting a person die to killing a person.
today almost no religious group endorses slavery, whereas in the past many communities held it to be perfectly ethical. Many philosophies also take a morally absolutist stance, arguing that the laws of morality are inherent in the nature of human beings, the nature of life in general, or the universe itself. For example, someone who believes absolutely in nonviolence considers it wrong to use violence even in self-defense. Moral absolutism argues that there are some moral rules that are always true, that these rules can be discovered and that these rules apply to everyone. Immoral acts (acts that break these moral rules) are wrong in themselves, regardless of the circumstances or the consequences of those acts.
The Unjust of Just law Ethics 110 22 Jun 2010 In a democratic state it is in never within our rights to break the law. Breaking the law leads to lawlessness and disobedience from the democracy that we have worked, or have been born into. If the law is unjust, then it might be fair to break that law as long as you are willing to suffer the consequences of punishment set aside for that particular unjust law. Failure to adhere to the punishment is unjust as well, for failure to adhere to the punishment of the law is a statement that you do not respect the laws of your society. Martin Luther King Jr. states “Oppressed People cannot remain oppressed forever.” (Cahn, 2009 p. 387) As we have seen throughout history, this is a true statement.
In our textbook, relativism is the idea that one’s beliefs and values are understood in the terms of one’s society, culture, or even one’s own individual values (Mosser, 2010). In one’s culture, sex slavery might be considered to be normal; however in our culture sex slavery is banned. In our country polygamy is highly frowned upon, while in another culture it is normal to be married to one or more husband or wife. This can lead to relativism because it requires people to understand other’s beliefs are different. Sometimes it depends on their society and how they were raised in their culture that impacts their lives.
Discarded “Abortion is the question of choice” (Robert Casey), abortion is a difficult subject, that questions our morality and our ethics, concerning mainly our individual religious and political standpoints. These standpoints can be considered invalid and carry little to no weight on their own, such as verses from the Bible “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb” (The Bible, Jeremiah 1:5). Although many believe in biblical verses and preachings as solid facts, and remain ignorant to the bigger picture. Nonetheless, abortion isn't all black and white, many scientists and researchers also believe abortion is unethical. In the documentary Lake of Fire, one can see the battle between pro life and pro choice views on abortion.
The movement of anti-abortion was created and was also expanding. Creating two sides: pro-life which are against abortion, stating that abortion is murder. They believe that the fetus is a person, and has rights like all humans, and shouldn’t be killed. And the other side is pro-choice, entailing that those against abortion are against choice. They don’t see the fetus as an individual, they think that it’s mother’s decision to stay pregnant or not.
Abortion would be considered unethical and wrong since it would be killing a creation by God. By going on with abortions and euthanasia we consider life “cheap” which then would not make life sacred. A human being is a human being from the moment of conception. The taking of any human life, which is sacred, is wrong. With euthanasia, whatever measures that can be taken to prolong the life should be taken.
Edson Wright Soc 005 Personal view on abortion My name is Edson Wright, and living in a world where society shape you view mentally and morally it is hard to fully determine your view on what is right or wrong. Abortion is one of those things where you know it is wrong but see people do it all around you so you easily think that it is okay, now before I go any farer I want you to comprehend that this is the world we live in right now. I personally do not support abortion in any way. I think it is murdering of an innocent child, I do not care what the situation may be, some may say my view on abortion is a little irrational but; the way I see it killing is killing and if you are stupid enough to have sex and irresponsible enough to kill the child just because you are not ready to face the consequences of your actions. I live in the city and worse in a society that think it is okay to have sex before marriage.
