Andre Joshua Perez "Saving Private Ryan" is a film released on the 11th of September, 1998. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, a well-known director who has also directed a lot of famous movies like Jurassic Park, Jaws and Schindler's list. The movie was also produced by two very famous movie production companies, Paramount and Dreamworks. Actors who played roles in his movie are famous Hollywood superstars like Tom Hanks and Matt Damon. The film won 5 Academy awards including best director for Steven Spielberg in 1999 Oscar Awards. The story of the film was based on WWII. A film isn't only assessed in the story and the acting. Excellent camera shots, angles, audio, and devices are the things giving effect to the movie which made "Saving Private Ryan" a film masterpiece. To start, we begin at the first scene of the movie, from the transition of the past to present. The film started with a frame shot of a waving American flag which gave the audience an idea that it has something to do with patriotism for America. After that, a lonely moody music fades in slowly while starting to show an elderly man walking to the American military graveyard showing that he was a soldier who fought for his country in the 2nd world war. The angles used in the shots were excellent, the endless rows and columns of graveyard showed that many soldiers died at that war. The desaturated color of the film showed that it wasn't a happy story that happened in his past. At the end of the scene, the camera shot taken was very effective for the viewers and everybody knows what kind of effect this camera shot gives. The shot was from medium shot zooming in extremely to the eyes of the old man meaning that he remembered something that will be shown in the movie or flashback.
