“God Forgives, I don’t” only touches the surface of Ross’ fight to triumph. Whenever I need inspiration to keep advancing, playing Rozay’s “Hold Me Back” on repeat is necessary. A gritty ballad made in the brain of man that might not have much to his name expressing through it all never let someone or something hold you back from your ambitions. The only problem I have with the album is the predictability of beat selection. Although the beats chosen for the project was suitable for the occasion when being a genuine Rick Ross admirer you tend to appreciate what sounds he loves to utilize and producers he shops with to fulfill his needs.
Mark Twain and Huckleberry Finn After reading Huck Finn I have gained so much respect for Mark Twain and what he did for books all over the world. The thing I enjoy most about this book is the subtle humor that is interlaced with the satire. Twain uses generous amounts of satire of the white man’s cruelty to black people, of religious hypocrisy, of Romanticism, and of superstition both to amuse the reader and, more importantly, to make the reader aware of the social problems which Twain saw at the time of his youth. The era and setting in which The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn takes place is fundamental to the story but the character’s identities themselves could be placed in just about any modern novel or story. I think some of the books most obvious forms of satire result from dehumanizing black people.
We were on our turf, we could lose ourselves…” The shorter breaks in- between punctuation creates a faster paced tempo and quick beat to the chase. Rodriguez doesthe same thing like in paragraph 26, “It never stopped, this running. We were constant prey, andthe hunters soon became big blurs…” He too includes those lost of breaks and puts shorter wordsto make the story flow more quickly. The two writers also employ another technique with thechase to dramatize it by adding differently structured sentences to emphasize differenttechniques. Dillard does this in paragraph 13 with her describing how the man “knew what Ithought only children who trained at football knew: that you have to fling yourself at whatyou’re doing…” This longer sentence helps emphasize the theme that Dillard is pushing about perseverance and passion.
People thought that Brown’s irony was sharp, his ideas were exciting, and he was not only and protestor of his time but one of the first times. Brown’s Work protested the classical folklore in the way it was written. “He infused his poetry with genuine characteristic flavor by adopting his medium geniality and optimism” was James Johnson reaction to his
His continuous irony throughout “A Modest Proposal” allows him to indirectly present his proposition, which is mostly confusing until the reader becomes educated with his style of writing. By choosing to use irony so often in his essay, Swift is able to illustrate to his audience just how extreme Ireland’s poverty conditions have gotten. With his use of sarcasm, Swift creates the impression that he is truly sincere and sympathetic towards the poor families who are constantly begging, but behind his satirical intentions he is actually meaning the opposite. Frequently in his essay, he portrayed irony when describing his “modest” proposal, that the carcass of one year olds would be profitable. Swift emphasizes his proposal’s advantage of preventing abortions, then clearly conveys irony when he contradicts this benefit three paragraphs later by reassuring his audience that he has been informed a “well-nursed” child “…is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled…”(Swift 1026).
Dill Harris Baker Dill Harris Baker is a close friend and neighbour of Scout and Jem in Harper lee’s novel ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. In the beginning of the novel Dill may seem insignificant and trivial, but Dill is used by Harper Lee in a number of important ways; he represents childhood innocence, which is missing from the town of Maycomb. He is much more adventures and curious then both Scout and Jem, which leads them into various adventures and stories. Dill is also used by Harper Lee as a mix of many of the other characters to show flaws and different character traits in them, and lastly Dills name also holds some interesting symbolism. Overall Dill is a crucial character to the stories development.
As he would say “rap game depending on me like a bungee cord” (Lil’ Wayne). In “MegaMan,“ Mr. Carter shows off his mind blowing lyrics and his ambitious swagger. Since his first album The Block is Hot Lil’ Wayne has proven his dedication to the rap game. The young Birdman Jr. lets the rappers know that his money is steady transmuting and his swagger is only improving. Lil’ Wayne makes it obvious that he has
When compared to the other rap hits of the time, Run DMC's sound was very unique in the sound of the beats and the skillful, push it to the limit vocals. By the mid 80's, Simmons had founded the hip hop record label Def Jam, and Run DMC became the most powerful group in hip hop. Run DMC then started to experiment mixing their sound with samples of heavy metal guitars, basically combining the sound of each genre to create a gritty, street savvy sound. Run DMC's success showed the rest of the hip hop world that success could be achieved by delivering constant new material that challenged the status-quo with unique sounds and challenging lyrics. Their 1986 album Raising Hell was preceded by the top ten hit “My Adidas”, and then the release of a cover of Aerosmith's “Walk This Way”, off the same album, became the groups biggest commercial hit.
The fact that this album birthed an entire rap genre is an accomplishment in itself. Nevermind the actual songs, just the presence of Chuck D and Flav was enough to revolutionize a nation. They had the perfect approach from the start; everybody wants to be apart of a revolution and rebellion. From their very first single - Rebel Without A Pause - the image of Public Enemy suddenly shifted into a rebellious, black rap group. They were the same group they were on their debut, but now they were louder.
The character faces a demon that is telling him to take revenge back. By rapping with such passion it is almost as if Kendrick’s feels the same way. He narrates in such a unique way that we become a part of the scene. The lyrics tell us that the brother is also a street rat, but since he the story is a narration of himself, it is almost as if he is thanking kendrick lamar for telling the story, in a different way then he has, through violence. The brother recognizes the fact of the truth that he is in way to deep.
