Introduction 1.1 Organization set up, concept, present operations: Bank of China Limited (BOC) is one of the largest and most globalised commercial banks in China, with revenue of over US$ 69 billion. It has its head office in Beijing, China. As of 2010, domestic and overseas branches of Bank of China totaled 10,961, including 9,988 branches in Chinese mainland and 973 overseas branches, with a total staff of 279,301. 1.2 Verticals and Horizontals: BOC provides a wide range of financial services to customers across Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and 32 overseas countries, as well as 32 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China Mainland. In Hong Kong and Macao, BOC is also one of the local note-issuing banks. The Bank’s core business is commercial banking, including corporate banking, personal banking and financial markets services. BOC also carries out treasury operations, mainly consisting of foreign exchange transactions, investment banking and insurance.
