Can Political Turnout Be Measured Other than By Electoral Turnout? (25 Marks) The measurement of the Political turnout is the extent of a population that gets involved in politics, while the electoral turnout is the percentage of the eligible electorate that voted. It could be said you could measure political turnout other than by electoral turnout as there are other forms of political turnout in which participation is increasing. An example is “Buycotting”, where members of the public deliberately choose one brand over another, to force the brand to change. The large power of Buycotting forced McDonalds to introduce salads, as people stopped eating there because of how unhealthy the food on offer was.
Who Should Decide What You Eat? America has been named the “fattest” country in the world, which is not something to be proud of, and many people are behind me when I say it needs to change. For reasons such as health, money, and pride, this country needs more regulation and better direction with our diets other than where we are and where we are headed. The group that has the power in this country to enforce that is the United States Government. They could make laws that would protect the citizens from harmful diseases caused by unhealthy foods as well as saving money on healthcare to provide for the people that cannot afford to pay for the healthcare they need for the diseases.
They all end up in the same ruling that its the consumers choice to enter a fast food establishment and consume their products. But it is evident that fast food corporations have caused a widespread epidemic within the U.S from their many caused negative effects. This is why society blames and accuses these fast food companies for being responsible for the ongoing obesity crisis, but even though their food is not considered of good nutrition, in the end it’s not fast food companies forcing their customers to consume their products, its free will of society. The modern history of fast food in America began on July 7, 1912 with the opening of a fast food restaurant called the Automat in New York. The Automat was a cafeteria with its prepared foods behind small glass windows and coin-operated slots.
Jessica Carroll Carroll 1 Lanie Rieth English 121 21 Sept. 2009 “Fat-Fighters” On April 15, 2006, Slate.com posted an article called “Junk-Food Jihad.” In this article the author, William Saletan, discusses his views on the banning of junk food in a very sarcastic and mocking way. The author expresses his hatred against this topic very clearly in this article by establishing his ethos and stating his point of views. He grabs the reader’s attention right off the get go by stating, “Goodbye, War on Smoking. Hello, War on Fat.” Throughout the article, he argues his opinion on fast food and junk food vs. tobacco. His tone in the piece, the quotes he includes, the facts and statistics that he uses to establish his authority and credibility, and his way of arguing his point without pushing the reader to choose a side, all lead up to his main argument on the banning of junk-food.

the purposes and the functions for each group differ as well. the most major difference is the fact that interest groups are interested in persuading the government. political parties are more interested in running the government. the benefits of interest groups in US democracy is that they even though the group may be formed for a specific reason, it focuses on civil matters as a whole. the groups are for the people and what they really want.
By displaying this collection of extensive research, the author hopes to communicate to the reader that the efforts of Halliburton are deleterious in a multitude of ways, and that its contract with the military needs to be stopped. Granted, with the help from Halliburton, the military enjoys some luxury of not having to directly provide essential needs for the soldiers. However, this book outlines the management corruption and overall excessive costs of contracting with Halliburton. Do you think there is racial bias in advertisements?? Personally, I think there are many racial biases in advertisement and less now because before, there are many inequality advertisement about race and discrimination of many human beings and so advertisement using the method of “discriminating people” will make the people looking at the advertisement (offenders) feel good and so the person will buy the product. One of the biggest discrimination in the world is the black people and the white people and there are many historical evidences in the advertisement saying they are being racist. Also, there are many religious racial biases in advertisement. One of the famous advertisements selling the sandwiches, as you can see on the right, it’s definitely offending the Jewish.
