It is the symbol of struggle, and of perseverance, because without that, Brother Tarp would have become nothing, leading to what could have been sad lives for the people who later met him, people that had come to admire him because of his struggles and trials he endured, people whom needed him to make an impact on so they could better themselves and their own lives. Although conflict is so often associated with difficulty and suffering, it is clear that through these debacles and controversy that it brings out unexpected and even surprising qualities in people. In The Crucible written by Arthur Miller, Arthur uses three very good characters to demonstrate and manifest the conflict in the story, and to show the readers how underlying qualities are evident in people. John Proctor, a man of pride and dignity, is what we think off him. But it is only through all the turmoil and conflict that we actually realise that he has many unforeseen traits.
In a world full of hatred and crime, people often look towards the light. In A Good Man Is Hard to Find, such light is shed from the characters as they try and claim values about themselves that don’t seem all but there. Through some confusion within morals standards, the grandmother seems to contradict herself with the other characters in the story, and vise-versa. Moral revelations are depicted through the greater good, grace and the God-forgiven values. This proves true throughout the story as the “good man” is sought for.
