He realized the high ground south of the town of Gettysburg, with its high bluffs and rocky ledge, was good ground. He knew his battle was a delaying action, waiting for the entire Army of General John Reynolds 1 corp to arrive He dismounted his calvary troops and positioned two divisions on the ridges north and northwest of the town. He was attacked early the next morning and was able to hold them off for two and a half hours allowing the 1 corp with its infantry to reinforce the ridges. This was one of the biggest breaks for the Union forces by keeping the high ridges out of the hands of the Confederate Army, which gave the Union forces the
Then he runs over to the river and jumps in” (Louise Erdrich 313). Henry chose his own death in this story, which was to commit suicide; from struggling with the PTSD from the war, the river is his freedom from the struggle, “’My boots are filling,’ he says. He says this in a normal voice, like he just noticed and he doesn’t know what to think of it. Then he’s gone” (Louise Erdrich 314). Both of the characters Henry and Farquhar saw the river as being their way to freedom, it was a different type off freedom but yet it was still freedom to them to escape their
This story also shows Odysseus’ resourceful attribute when he uses the rams for concealment. In the story of the Sirens he uses the wax from the ship to block the ears of his comrades, which shows resourcefulness. Additionally, the story of the Sirens shows that Odysseus is unable to endure the temptations of the sirens, as he struggles and calls to be released. From surviving this ultimate test of forbearance, Odysseus learns endurance and later, when he returns to Ithaca he will need this skill. His temper during these four books can be ungovernable, as he says: ‘Now when Eurylochus said that, I considered drawing the long sword from my sturdy side and lopping his head off to roll in the dust, but my men held me back and calmed me down’1.
In the middle, the sentence structure developed into complete sentences. With complete and shortened sentencing, the narrator was quick to make a decision based on the options that were set before him. At first, he ponders whether to kill the snake, and then he was overcome by conviction in his heart to fulfill the duty that he knows he must. The author swaps from the meditative, fragmented sentencing to the comprehensive sentences because the narrator acknowledges what he is required to do. He is no longer wondering and having incomprehensive thoughts.

This is another reason why he doesn’t have as much power. This is a quote showing this ‘ well, I can go away,’ (to a cave) which shows that he has no concept of what he physically can and cannot do. He is also very easily led - an example of this would be when George told him to jump into a river and he did it. I turns to lennie and says ‘jump in’ an’ he jumps.” He has more physical power than mental, for example, when he broke Curley’s hand . This is why he is easily led because George told him to fight back against Curley and he did and when George tells him to stop he does.
Nemo said that he would swim inside the net and tell all the other fish to swim down, but there was, however, one thing stopping them. Marlin. Nemo was able to convince his dad in letting him attempt this. This was the biggest decision Marlin had ever made. There was no way the old Marlin would let Nemo take this risk even if it was for Dory because it's simply too dangerous and with Nemo's bad fin, he wouldn't want to risk it. However, he learned to let go and believe that Nemo can do this and with Marlin's approval Nemo was suceeded in his plan and the fish, including Dory were freed.
