In the book What Great Teachers Do Differently, Todd Whitaker chronicles things that great teachers do. By adopting many of the practices in the book, a new teacher can be well on their way to becoming a great teacher. High expectations, creating a climate of caring, decision making, and learning to ignore things are just a few of the things that great teachers do. Great teachers have high expectations not just for their students, but also for themselves. The expectations a teacher places on his or herself are directly related to those placed on their students.
Drill team gave me the knowledge that grades in high school do play an important role in life and I knew that if I put enough heart into it I would succeed. My coaches made an impact on me because they differentiated me from other and made me realize that I made a huge difference to the team. They gave me the opportunity to showcase what I had, which made me sense I was notable and helped to raise my confidence. I have never been able to adjust to situations as well as others but the confidence I gained from drill team experiences helped to change that. My confidence plays a big role in the person I am today.
Why it should be valued Diversity should be valued because nobody is completed the same as everybody else. By respecting and valuing the Diversity this can help growth within that person and also within the workplace as they will learn from each other and will be able to be their selves. Within the workplace we make sure that all the students and staff are treated equally. Everyone will have something to offer to the workplace and have strong/skills that they will be able to contribute to the School. This will make the workplace friendlier and welcome to work in.
Dear: National Junior Honor Society Committee I currently represent the “Character” Trait of NJHS by being honest to others and very workable with my fellow peers. Many people rely on me as a very good person to come to in a great time of need. I deeply care for my family and other people. I also listen to others ideas to help improve their idea or to help make it a reality. I will use all of these characteristics to help this organization reach out to people in need.
The message depicts to treat everyone fairly and that if you do that its not ok. Aticus shows not to be prejudice by leading in example of his children. Atticus' morals and values are very high. He is not racist and treats everybody the same: He teaches his children to accept everyone for who they are, regardless of race or social standing. After the incident of Atticus being confronted by Mr Cunningham and a mob, His children see it differently and dont understand what actually has happened. Atticus tells the kids “i don't want either of you bearing a grudge about this thing.
They are there to assist children on how to act appropriately on ideas they form themselves. He states, “Every teacher should realize the dignity of his calling; that he is a social servant set apart for the maintenance of proper social order and the securing of the right social growth.” He believed that the teacher should become a partner in the learning process. He states, “The teacher is not in the school to impose certain ideas or to form certain habits in the child, but is there as a member of the community to select the influences which shall affect the child and to assist him in properly responding to these influences.” Teachers need to be aware of and never suppress a student’s interests. I think what makes a good student is a hard worker that is going towards success and not following but leading. Another thing that makes a good student is someone who has good behavior, works on their school work, participates and puts forth effort. Another example of what makes a good student is somebody who takes a risk at class work they don’t know. That’s what really makes a good student because if they try hard and practice they will become a success. Those are the things I think make a good student.
CWPA, NCTE, and NWP claim in “Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing,” that “Habits of mind refers to ways of approaching learning that are both intellectual and practical and that will support students’ success in a variety of fields and disciplines” (122). At the Recreation Center, responsibility and persistence are habits of the mind that most students apply. Persistence, which the authors describes, is the “ability to sustain interest in and attention to short and long-term projects,” that pushes these students to come back throughout their education, regardless of how high their workload has piled up (122). When approaching college, students find it much more difficult to schedule exercising while balancing out their college life. There are exams to study for, deadlines to meet, and expectations to live up to.
Social Justice Leadership Introduction Possessing good leadership traits in an educational environment is the beginning of serving students, colleagues, staff, and an entire network of people to promote, enhance, and produce positive changes for the benefit of the people and its institution. It is a daily mission whether it is a small or large task that is done with joy regardless of the challenges that will arise because everyone is involved in the leader’s vision. According to Theoharis (2009), a good leader has a multitude of skills that creates a positive impact in students’ achievements. They range from supporting various programs that will serve the needs of diverse students, to facilitating professional development for their staff
Individualism is something that is in all great leaders. They are able to set a goal and help their people understand what they want and won’t lose focus of the task at hand. Introspective was a key quality in both of these gentlemen they both look at them selves as a tool to help change their situation and planned to improve themselves first and then they would try to improve the people that was around them. The quality of society would improve heavily if every human being had
