Anh Do is a Vietnamese Australian actor and stand-up comedian who resides in the Sydney suburb of Yagoona. He is perhaps best known for his leading role in the film Footy Legends. He has also made appearances on television programs such as The NRL Footy Show, The Matty Johns Show and Pizza (TV series). The main event in Anh Do’s life is when he had to flee his country and move to Australia, at such a young age he was only 2 years old. The Do family fled to Australia as refugees in 1980 In his 2010 autobiography, The Happiest Refugee, Anh tells of how his family survived five days in a leaky fishing boat nine and a half metres long and two metres wide and packed with 40 Vietnamese refugees fleeing across the Indian Ocean. “We were crammed in like sardines,” he said. He was sick from dehydration and his desperate mother could not do anything to help him. He almost didn’t make it to Australia and everyone came close to losing their lives on the sea as they were escaping in the crowded and small boat.They were attacked by pirates twice. His brother, Khoa Do, was held dangling over the edge by the pirates, but fortunately, his life was spared for an unknown reason. Life in Australia was hard. School was tough. He studied law and commerce for almost 5 years and was offered jobs from both law and accounting firms which required him to work for atleast 65 hours a week. However, he turned them both down and became a comedian as it only required 4 hours a week instead. He has won every comedy award in NSW. He is the only comedian to have ever achieved this greatly. He also wrote an autobiography about his life called “The Happiest Refugee”. This has won him several awards including Overall Winner, Indie Book of the Year Award 2011, Non-fiction Indie Book of the Year 2011 and Shortlisted, 2011 NSW Premier's Literary Awards and Community Relations Commission
