Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is a celebration of life, a festival of gratitude! In my home, Thanksgiving is a precious time when my family gets together and the women share the kitchen cooking and bonding over an extravagant meal. The men gather together in the den and connect on a deeper level over a spirited football game, cheering and cursing at the television screen. The children play games and run through the house. Thanksgiving is a time when the house can come truly alive. Every member of the family comes together to eat and enjoy the turkey dinner. The true meaning of Thanks giving can be found in any family history and lives in our hearts as a fundamental tradition. Merriam-Websters Dictionary version of Thanksgiving Day is “a day appointed for giving thanks for divine goodness”(Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary.com). The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism.”(encyclopedia Britanica.com) American citizens have celebrated Thanksgiving Day with a broad variety of traditions and there are as many different versions of the same story about how this special holiday originated.
