America had decided not to keep a big military after World War I and took time to make a military good enough to challenge Germany in World War II. As a result, World War II was a great improvement in military for the U.S. The U.S. had to do many things to catch up to Germany. Firstly, the U.S. developed its guns and hand held artillery. Secondly, the U.S. also needed to have control over the Atlantic and Pacific, so it vastly improved its navy in the process. America also improved its planes to counter Germany. So basically, World War II was huge in terms of war transportation. Meanwhile, the U.S. was also carrying out the Manhattan Project which actually led to the making of the first Atomic Bomb. All these were important for the American society because the U.S had built itself a military not only to protect itself, but to also use it for foreign issues in reducing conflicts and wars. United States military after the WWII became the strongest military the world, enabling them the power to intervene in foreign businesses using their power. The Manhattan project, such as atomic bomb, actually led to greater inventions and advanced technology that is used for several military purposes. The strong American military gave the Americans an opportunity to live up to their new foreign policy of interventionism. United States entering in WWII had brought a great transformation in American society. Women in particular had a great responsibility to do in WWII. About 6 million women who entered the workforce for the first time during World War II, many of whom worked in the manufacturing plants that produced munitions and materials. These women took the places of the male workers who were absent fighting in the Pacific and European theater. Women worked in skilled jobs as mechanics, engineers, carpenters, code-breakers, farmers and pilots. The sudden gift of authority made
