Before beginning this task, read the complete directions provided in the CalTPA Candidate Handbook. Step 1: Assessment Selection and Planning for the Whole Class Directions To plan classroom assessment, a teacher determines his or her current point within the instructional sequence of a unit of study and identifies the student academic learning goals to measure. “Ideally, assessment and instruction are linked inextricably within any curriculum. The key to using assessment effectively and efficiently in a program of instruction is to recognize above all that different types of assessment tools must be used for different purposes.” (Reading/Language Arts Framework for California Public Schools, 1999, page 215) Select one class, a content area, and a unit of study to work with as you complete this performance task. Respond to the prompts below about the unit of study and its assessment.
There are many connections between Shadows at Dawn and the course, including the influence of European contact on the indigenous population as well as the deconstruction of stereotypes that have existed in the national history of the United States and Mexico. Jacoby believes that perspective influences how an event is seen, including historical narrative. Political power influences the selection of memories when choosing historical narrative. Jacoby's thesis matters because in order to truly understand an event all sides of the story must be explored and understood. Shadows at Dawn shows how an event is remembered can be influenced by who wrote the history of it.
Texas cattle ranching goes back to the time of Gregorio de Villalobos, he brought Spanish-Moorish cattle from Spain to Mexico during the early part of the conquest. Cattle was also brought to Texas by Spanish explorers, one them Francisco Vasquez Coronado. During the years the cattle that were brought from Mexico and the cattle brought from Spain started to breed and this produced the Texas Longhorn brand of cattle. In the early years of cattle breeding the land was plentiful and the government had little interference with these cattle farmers and huge cattle empires began to form, the biggest belonging to Richard King. King Ranch is composed of 825,000 acres and holds four separate units and is still the largest cattle ranch in Texas.
The beams supports contain the printer’s marks of famous early printers. The Hall of Texas at the west wing of the library is the Business and Social Science Reading Room. It is called the Hall of Texas due to the paintings on the cement ceiling beams. Each beam is painted to represent various periods of Texas history. On the beam supports are painted symbols for ethnicities that represented the population of Texas in 1937.
I will use the software ‘Microsoft PowerPoint’ to create my product which will be around 16 slides in total. The purpose of this product is to help key stage 3 students with their geography. It will help to teach them general geographical skills and also inform them of things such as how the world’s climate is changing and also globalisation. The product will contain images and diagrams not just words to explain information, as a lot of text on one slide may lessen the student’s attention span. It will contain multimedia such as a game, quiz and word search to enable students to learn in a more exciting way.
