Amelia Rogers's Debacle 1) What should Rodgers do about the client? Rodgers should sit down with the client and discuss what happened, apologize, and then proceed with getting a feel for what the client’s needs actually are. There seem to be several questions from the creative’s standpoint, which lead to Dave Burns calling the client. If there is any ambiguity in the message; it could be possible to sit down in a meeting with Dave Burns and get a solid plan on how to satisfy the client’s needs. 2) What should Rodgers do about Burns? Amelia should sit Dave down and council him on paper. Dave needs to have a paper trail attached to his deficiency. Then there will be a clear message on how he is to conduct himself. The company’s policies need to be covered in this meeting and Dave needs to be in line with the company’s goals. Amelia and Dave should not leave the meeting with and questions to the others intentions. Amelia should end the meeting on a positive note with Dave, maybe pointing out something he is doing right on the project. 3) Should Rodgers involve Paglia? Amelia should not bother Paglia at the moment. This should be handled at the lowest level first, provided there are no other deficiencies on Dave’s record. This will show Dave that he can count on his manager and that she has the backbone to handle problems at her level. It could earn Dave’s trust and build a good strong working relationship. 4) Prepare an action plan to address the situation. There is a lack of communication between the senior management and account managers which trickles down to those working the accounts. Sally Tassani and Jim Paglia are going to have to reevaluate the company goals and policies and make sure the employees are on board with them.
