In the article “Auto Liberation,” Brent Knutson discusses the need for national speed limits on U.S. interstate highways. Specifically, Knutson argues that speed limits are unnecessary based on his experience driving on German autobahns. He claims that American speed limits violate on the freedoms of Americans. Also, he says that nowadays automobiles are able to travel safely at high speeds, and speed is not the cause of accidents but “[it] combined with incompetence, alcohol, or hazardous conditions is dangerous” (Knutson paragraph 9). Moreover, Knutson states that an “intensive driver-education programs, stringent licensing criteria, and public-service announcement campaigns” can make the Americans drive responsibly on the road and he believes the main reason to repeal speed limit is “driving fast is enjoyable.” Surprisingly, the accident rates declined constantly since the interstate speed limits were increased.
8. War is a blunt instrument by which to settle disputes between or within nations, and economic sanctions are rarely effective. Therefore, we should build a system of jurisprudence based on the International Court—that the U.S. has refused to support—which would hold individuals responsible for crimes against humanity. 9. If we are to deal effectively with terrorists across the globe, we must develop a sense of empathy—I don't mean "sympathy," but rather "understanding"—to counter their attacks on us and the Western World.
Include any important potential economic, social, or political pressures, and exclude inconsequential facts. That the most important fact was left out of the report. When making an arrest and writing a report it is important to have the key facts in the report right away when dealing with a case. With a DUI arrest it would be very important to indicate that the husband was driving. Now there is question by the prosecutor if the officers saw the husband driving the vehicle or if the officers honestly forgot to put that information in the report.
For many of Fitzgerald’s characters, the automobile represents American progress. Fitzgerald, however, remains unconvinced. Despite its superficial role as an emblem of man’s ingenuity, Fitzgerald suggests that the automobile is actually a tool of destruction. Several other symbols of American progress-wealth, scientific research, the metropolis-turn out to be corrupting forces in The Great Gatsby. By adding automobiles to this large set of false emblems, Fitzgerald reinforces his idea that the Jazz Age represents a tragic perversion of the American dream.
This in itself was an extremely unethical move by the company management team. They reasoned that these tragic results were acceptable by the same federal safety mandates that the company lobbyist’s fought for. Ford Motor Company knew that the federal government was making moves to introduce stricter safety standards for manufacturing automobiles. Under the leadership of Henry Ford II, the company’s lobbyist group went to work to delay the process, and guide the regulators the way the company saw fit. It was the Ford team that recommended, negotiated, and agreed to make safety related decisions on the basis of a cost-benefit analysis.

The ones that are against racial profiling have thought of an alternative solution, which is behavioral profiling. Behavioral profiling, hence the name, means to base the law enforcers' suspicion according to that person’s behavior instead of race. With this more effective system, it balances our protection from both terrorism and violating someone’s civil rights. One reasonable example on why we shouldn’t racial profile is the popular bomber in United Kingdom, Richard Reid, who doesn’t fit the profile that they have created for terrorists. Individuals have also made good arguments about the negative outcome that racial profiling might bring to our society.
Evans makes the assumption that it is ‘imperative that we have the latest toy.’ Likewise, he attacks city dwellers, claiming that ‘many [of them] choose to drive gas-guzzling cars’. These two generalisations, although they seek to highlight the awful state of our country, and the misuse of our vital resources, also has the potential to get the reader off side- especially if they are the owner of a ‘gas-guzzling’ four wheel drive. Furthermore, Evans uses sarcasm when arguing that resolving to save water by using a bucket in the shower is minimal, compare to walking or using public transport to get to work. Evans suggests, that ‘there’s only so much inconvenience we are willing to tolerate!’ The reader is asked to either take responsibility for contributing to the degradation of our environment, or in a much cynical response- given a scapegoat for what is, overall, much larger, and widespread
