All Around Nursing I enjoy talking and interacting with people. That is why nursing is such a great career to me. Even though few men become a nurse it is not just a job for women. Nursing is great because you can take your career anywhere in the world; you can also study in different fields like being a RN, LPN, or CNA. Nursing Started around 250B.C. in India Women were not the start of nursing. When nursing first began it only consist of men nurses. The first nursing school was established in India in about 250 B.C., and only men were permitted to attend because men were viewed to be more pure than women (Travel Nurses Now, 2011). They are 2,909,357 licensed registered nurses in the United States; and men are only 5.8% of the total population (Minority Nursing Statistics, 2001). The percentage of women to men nurses is really low so men do not be intimidated this career is for you to. Being a nurse gives you the opportunity to work in different fields. I will only be telling you about a few of them. One class of nursing is a Certified Nursing Assistant; referred to as a CNA. The nursing assistant provides basic needs for patients of any age, ethnicity or gender as they work under supervision (Nursing Assistant Guide, 2009-2011). Most training for CNA’s is accomplished through programs offered by community colleges, online school, and through medical facilities (Nursing Assistant Guide, 2009-2011). You also get on the job training as well. All CNA’s must take an examination before they become qualified nursing assistant. Being a Licensed Practical Nurse (also known as a LPN) is a good field if you only what to spend a short time in school and training.
